The view of the Marseilles River Bridge from underneath in Illini Park. The bridge was completed in December 1997, and has modern features like solid guardrails, a wide sidewalk, and street lights. It replaced a 78 year old steel truss bridge which was removed later in 1998. The bridge is 1,661 feet long and has a traffic count of over 4500 per day.

MTCO has been a member of the community of Marseilles since 1987. Many local families have relied on the communication services that Marseilles Telephone Company has provided over these years. We were there when our customers called friends and family to wish them a happy birthday, a Merry C h r i s t m a s , or just to say hello. In the 90’s, MTCO was first to bring internet service to our community.

Over time, MTCO has assisted groups, events, sport teams, and our town with donations of time, people, and money. We believe that a community with a solid foundation becomes a great place to work, play, and raise a family.

Now, we enter a new era of services for Marseilles. MTCO has introduced their latest addition to our communications services called IPTV. Take The Money And Run Premieres Thursday, July 28 (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

From the producers of “The Amazing Race” and the “CSI” franchise comes an entirely new heart-stopping competition show. The cat and mouse format will pit investigative professionals against everyday people trying to win a $100,000 prize.

“The Cabin”, A Hallmark Movie Channel Original World Premiere July 30Lea Thompson (“Jane Doe,” “Back to the Future”) stars with Steven Brand (“Covert Affairs”) in the World Premiere of “The Cabin,” a Hallmark Movie Channel Original Premiere, Saturday, July 30 (8p.m. ET/PT, 7C). What was supposed to be a vacation of culture, adventure and ancestral bonding, becomes the Clash of the Macs, when two divorced strangers with nothing in common but their last name, battle as they are forced to share the same cabin with their kids in Scotland.

Lily MacDougal (Thompson) and Conor MacDougal (Brand) are single parents who share the same surname, but have little else in common. Lily and Conor have each brought their children to Scotland to enter a national Clan Mac-type affair called the “Meeting of the Macs.” But when a careless booking agent accidentally assigns Lily’s family and Conor’s to the same cabin, a civil war ensues reminiscent of the War of Scottish Independence. Through a series of mishaps, Lily and Conor struggle to get along as their families are now entered into the competition as a single team, which further means they will need to get along in order to get ahead and win. Will the warring “Macs” set aside personal differences for the greater good, or will it take another Treaty of Edinburgh to bring peace back to the tiny Scottish hamlet?

Road Closed Thru JulyIf you access I-80 using Rt 6 through Seneca, there are some changes to be aware of this summer. The closing of Rt. 6 eastbound from Route 170 (BP Station) to 4-way stop at Morris Blacktop started on June 20th for the replacement of the bridge and traffic control lights. The project is scheduled to be completed by August 12.

Is That Flag Worn Out?The American Legion Post in Marseilles

have installed a drop off box for U.S. flags that need proper disposal. The Legion performs a special ceremony to properly dispose of worn out flags. The drop box was painted by local resident Dave Strottner with the help of his employer Fairway Body Shop. With the 4th of July happening this month, it’s a good time to check the condition

of your flag and replace it if necessary.
