Dearly beloved in Christ,

Once again it was proved in the context of the flood in Kerala that the goodness in human beings has not drained out. The ordinary, voluntary organizations of various kinds joined hands with the government to overcome the aftermath of the great flood of the century. Let us pray for the people who are struggling because of the natural disaster especially in Wayanad and Idukki Districts.

We celebrate the Thrird Sunday (September 15 )as the Day of Sevika Sangham based on the theme: “Women: Equal participation in Kingdom of God.” The traditional communities paid little attention on the worth of women and their dignity. Their place in society was restricted to child birth and household responsibilities. Most of the modern societies have changed their outlook and consider women at par with men. They are given equal status with men in all spheres of life.

The Mar Thoma Church right from the beginning of its reformation period began to rethink about the dignity of women and their place in family and church. It began to open doors to areas where it was once shut for women. It found its visible expression by the formation of Mar Thoma Suvishesha Sevika Sangham in the year 1919. A century’s life and activities of the Sangham tell stories about its engagement with women empowerment, regaining the dignity of women, and equipping them as good mothers and mentors of the society. It equipped women to have their right place in church and family. Let us commit once again as responsible partners with God in His mission.

The month of September is special for our parish as we celebrate Young Family Fellowship Sunday on Sept. 08, Yuvajanadinam on Sept. 22 and Senior Citizen Sunday on Sept. 29. along with Harvest Festival.

Our Church celebrate Harvest Festival on Sept. 08. Festival of Ingathering in Exodus focused on fruits of our labor and a commemoration of God’s protection around. God has given abundance of blessings and we ought to express gratitude to God. The slogan of our harvest festival is “bring at least one item and bid at least one item.”

• Bring items for Auction – you could bring over as many useful items

as you want and put them up for Auction. You could also indicate an

amount that you wish as the starting bid.

• Be an active buyer for things that are on sale and bid aggressively for

the things on auction.

We welcome ideas to make our Ingathering special & relevant to this

milestone. The proceeds from the sale & auction of what we bring in will go

towards the Church Building Fund.

Parish picnic was held on August 10 at Carmel Centre premises. I

appreciate all the parishioners who actively participated. I extend my

special thanks to Convener Mr. Jacob P Mathew ( Manoj), Sports &

Games Convener Mr. Mathew Varghese ( Matt) and the team who worked

behind the curtain to make the program success.

Let us continued to be a witnessing congregation filled with compassion and

love. May God bless you all.
