DAVID ALMADA — Concierge, W New York David started his career in the hospitality industry in the prestigious Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California. His first occupation was as a Cashier. He then transitioned his status to a Valet Parking Attendant. David managed the Cashiers, Valet Parking, Bellmen and Doormen and contributed his services for 11 consecutive years. He then ventured out to New York City—the most exhilarating city in the world. He used his expertise as a Bellman and Doorman at the fashionable W New York hotel. While exploring the fascinating lifestyle in New York, he was introduced to the extraordinary field of Concierge. David became intrigued with the substantial amount of information about the Big Apple. The opportunity presented itself for him to be part of the wish maker’s team of Concierges at the W Hotel, and he is highly mesmerized by this enthusiastic career. Also, the Silver Plume committee nominated David twice in a row (2012 and 2013) for Concierge Of The Year. He committed himself this past year as Membership Director, and currently serves this year as Social Director for the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges. KEONI BOYER — Concierge, The Lowell Keoni has been a concierge for 12 years and employed in the ser- vice industry for many more. As the oldest of a large family, Keoni was groomed early on as a caretaker. He began his hotel career as a busboy in a hotel restaurant in Alaska before moving to the “big” city. This was an eye-opening experience, but the one thing he felt comfortable doing was taking care of others, which led him back into the hospital- ity industry. This, combined with his fascination of all the amazing things one has access to in New York City, made being a Concierge a perfect fit for him. ROBERT DELORENZO — Assistant Chef Concierge, The Mark Robert, a member of Les Clefs d’Or USA and the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges, has worked as a Concierge at some of New York’s top hotels for the past 15 years. Prior to opening The Mark in 2009, Robert has been employed by The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel; Waldorf Astoria New York; Paramount Hotel; and Morgans Hotel Group. Working at these different types of properties and assisting their respective clientele, has enabled him to gain a greater knowledge of the city and all that it has to offer—from the new “it” restaurant of the moment to classic New York institutions. Robert prides himself on his professionalism and efficiency when helping guests and fellow hotel staff with the tasks at hand. JAMES LAMBOGLIA — Concierge, The Plaza Hotel James has 20 years of experience working in the hotel industry and has been a Concierge for 11 years. He currently serves as a Concierge at The Plaza hotel. Prior to joining The Plaza, he worked at the W New York, Hudson and the Four Seasons Hotel New York. James is an active member of Les Clefs d’Or and has served on the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges’ Board of Directors since 2009. He has served as Secretary and Social Director and is currently Vice President. He is originally from San Francisco but has resided in New York City for the past 14 years. STEPHANIE MATTHEI — Concierge, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel Stephanie’s hotel career started 17 years ago with an apprentice- ship at The Grand Elysée Hotel in Hamburg, Germany. Since then, she has graduated from Hotel Management School in Heidelberg, Germany and worked in various hotels in the country. She also worked in Shanghai and London before coming to New York City 10 years ago. Stephanie started as Assistant Front Desk Manager at The Mark hotel (at that time it was managed by Mandarin Oriental), and a year later moved to the Con- cierge desk. After The Mark, she worked at The New York Palace and for the past seven years at The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel. She is also a proud member of Les Clefs d’Or USA and the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges. For her, being a Concierge in NYC is the best job ever. There is never a dull moment. MICHAEL BORDENICK — Concierge, The Surrey Originally, Bordenick came to New York to become an actor, singer and dancer more than 20 years ago. That dream changed when he was working at the Cashier of The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York (a Four Seasons property at the time). He had the perfect view of the Concierge Desk and observed that they were constantly busy. He found if he dialed *7 he could answer their line to help them out, which he did with ever-growing fervor. He applied to become Concierge three times before he won Employee of The Year and finally convinced his General Manager to transfer him. MADISON AVENUE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
