WRITING TRACK: First draft to final submission Award-winning YA author Brian Katcher will help you move your writing project from just an idea to a finished work. In addition, he will discuss writing for the young adult market and cover top books in that genre. Tap into fresh ideas as you take time to write in response to Brian’s prompts. PHOTO TRACK: Planning and creating photographs, from start to finish Taking a photo is more than just clicking a button. Spend a weekend under the guidance of professional photographer Bill Helvey as you learn techniques to create a memorable photograph. Bill will cover shooting fundamentals, composition, image editing and final effects to help you create a lasting and emotional image that you, and others, could treasure. Get away from the busyness of life for a weekend this fall. Take time to slow down at our annual retreat for writers and photographers along the scenic banks of the Jacks Fork River in the historic Ozark Waterways. There will be time to learn and time to create. Participants will stay in rustic cabins and enjoy family-style meals in the dining hall. Grab a friend and register early! Attendance is limited in both tracks. The first 10 registrants will receive a limited-edition ceramic Creative Retreat mug. Fee: $240 for members; $280 for nonmembers. Paddles & life jackets available at main office. Cabin assignments are posted on a clipboard at the office. No evening meal on site (restaurants in nearby town). 7 p.m., Behrens Hall Informal meet and greet, soda/snacks provided. Meet with faculty for overview & assignments. SATURDAY: 7:30 a.m., BREAKFAST in Dining Hall 8:30 a.m. -12:15 p.m., Sessions with faculty (faculty may adjust session time as necessary) 12:30 p.m., LUNCH in Dining Hall 1:15 p.m., Sessions continue if necessary.
