MSSA-Menofia

MSSA is an association that was founded during the early 90s of the last century and fought its way through the years with many fall outs and get ups. It is a long run lead by so many profes-sors and senior colleagues.

MSSA was established around 1993, under the patronage of Dr. Awatef Farghaly, Professor of Surgery. A year later, Dr. Sa’eed El-Mallah, also a surgery professor, supervised MSSA for a few years. And since 2000 till the day being, MSSA is back to be under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Awatef Farghaly.

Along these years, many senior colleagues were involved in the journey of MSSA. Keeping track of all these seniors was a hard job. So many peo-ple moving into MSSA and a lot moving out of it into some place of our wide universe. These senior colleagues have become our raw models. These colleagues had become the energy that feeds our souls and the hand that pushes us to-wards further achievements and success.

Outgoing Division By: Ahmad MacshutMarketing Campaign (Exchange Students Selections)- Timing: 17th, 18th & 19th of November, 2013 - Venue: In front of the College Entrance. - Description: We started preparations 20 days before the campaign, through an online peak followed by a 101 Exchange training held by Mr. Is-lam Afify (Former NORE) to the Marketing Team. We had about 10 qualified members to spread the Exchange Orientation and information about the exchange concept all around the college, being helped by a large banner, 6 posters and about 1000 flyers distributed all around the college, and using 3 large stands holding testimonials from the previous outgoing and incom-ing students about the exchange experience and pictures of MSSA-Menofia exchange students from all over the world- Outcome : About 90 students applied to join MSSA-Menofia Exchange Exam. - The Exchange “Awareness” reached over 900 medical students.B- The Selection Process; being subdivided into TWO main phases; 1. A Written Exchange Exam; A- 50 MCQs (equally assessing; Language Function, Egyptology Knowledge, IQ, General Knowledge and some Basic Medical Knowledge) B- 10 MCQs based on reading a comprehension (assessing; Language Func-tion and Reading Skills) C- A Motivation Letter (showing everyone’s motives to join the program & assessing Writing and Communication Skills) 2. An Oral Exam (Interview); Also had three main categories; 1- Language Function and Oral Communication 2- Reactions to different awkward or difficult situations 3- Diplomatic answering to SPICY questions about Egypt and Religious Mat-tersSo, The Scoring System had 3 main divisions:1- The Written Exam (50%): (MCQ = 50 Marks, Comprehension = 20 Marks and the Motivation Letter = 30 Marks; Half of which on the proofreading and the other half on the content)2- The Interview (30%): 10 Marks on each main category. Nobody will pass the interview, and hence enter the scoring system, unless they get more than 15 Marks in the interview as a minimum.

Page 28: MSSA End Term Report 2013-2014

MSSA-Menofia

3- Activities and Other Considerations (20%) :• 60+ Applicants attended both the written Exam and the Interview • The 20 Applicants who missed the Interviews “THREE times” were unfortu-nately excluded from the scoring system.

C- Quota Distribution: 1- The Final Ranking was in the form of a percentage (100%), subdivided into 3 main divisions as explained before. 2- The contracts were chosen by the Ranked Applicants in a descending order in the form of Quota Distribution (the 1st chooses any contract they want, the 2nd chooses from the remaining contracts..etc) 3-The Out-of-Quota applicants were added automatically to the Waiting List and added to the Exchange Applicants Database to be ready for next-year’s officer
