• Financial Literacy is the ability to use knowledge and skills to manage one’s financial resources effectively for lifetime financial security.
• By March 2010, MSDE plans to approve a curriculum and a mandate that every county must provide a comprehensive program for grades 3-12 to deliver this content.– Grades 3-5– Grades 6-8– Grades 9-12
• Each local system will decide how this is to be delivered• Advisory Groups include teachers, supervisors, business,
organizations, etc.– Wisconsin's’ Model Academic Standards for Financial
Literacy– Jumpstart Coalition

Let’s Discuss the Future
• What can or should we do more of?• What would our main goal be?• How would we measure success?• What do we need to be successful?• What are our strengths?• What are our weaknesses?• What opportunities do you see?• What do we think about a new stand alone course
for financial literacy?• What could hold us back?• ??
