THE MSc GLOBAL PRIMARY CARE MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME IS FOCUSSED ON IMPROVING POPULATION HEALTH STATUS BY INTEGRATING ELEMENTS OF TRADITIONAL ‘HEALTH’ AND BUSINESS THINKING. IT AIMS TO ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION, TO DEVELOP WIDER SYSTEMS THINKING AND TO GENERATE SUSTAINABLE AND MEASURABLE CHANGES IN PRIMARY CARE SYSTEMS AND/OR SERVICES IN TARGET POPULATIONS.

Students from this programme will have the capacity to make transformational changes in some of the worlds most disadvantaged communities and populations through systems of primary care.

Your learningThe programme consists of core and option modules set within a framework of interrelated themes, that is, health and business.

The Postgraduate Certificate requires students to complete 60 credits i.e. three core modules. Postgraduate Diploma students must complete a further 60 credits – two core modules and one option module. MSc students must also complete a Research and Enquiry Dissertation module – 60 credits. To gain the award of MSc Global Primary Care Management, students must complete 180 credits.

Careers prospectsIt is expected that students undertaking the programme will be equipped with knowledge and skills which will enhance their leadership and influencing skills and enable them to make a unique contribution to change and development within their work area. The programme will offer enhanced employability prospects within primary care and associated health systems. In particular, graduates will be equipped to establish new primary care systems where little or no system exists, including (should they choose various options) many of the wider issues associated with sustaining these systems and improving population health as a result.

^ Full-time option will normally be taught at London Campus, while the part-time option will be completed online via the virtual learning environment.

Entry requirementsApplicants should normally possess an appropriate undergraduate degree, preferably (but not exclusively) in a health or business-related field, along with sufficient professional or practice-based experience. Skills in information communication technology are also required. Overseas students must meet UWS English language requirements – an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no less than 5.5 in any individual component.
