Ms. Soeder March 25-28 No School Friday!! Language Arts: Please note that there will be a small OAA prep packet to complete over Spring Break. -This week we will have no StoryTown reading work due to the shortened week and field trip on Thursday. -We will be taking a writing diagnostic on Monday and Tuesday that assesses the students ability to formally write. This test is not timed and will be graded by me according to the state guidelines. This is not a test that we send to the state. It is only intended for practice. -In preparation for our field trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday, we will be spending some time writing as singers/songwriters do. Please be aware that Monday, April 8 th is a staff only day. -I do apologize for not sending home a newsletter last week. It slipped my mind with the travel I had approaching! Character Chat Integrity, Justice, and Fun!!! -Unfortunately I only have three people to shout out for behavior last week. Raelynn, Kayden, and Alycia were consistently on their best behavior while I was out for two days. I did receive a thorough letter from the substitute teacher reporting the types of behaviors that happened in my absence. We had an issue with spitballs, pushing and shoving, name calling, and other actions that would not go on in my presence. In addition to the sub’s report, I had two parents and about 5 teachers complain about behavior. As you may assume, I was extremely hurt and disappointed by the lack of integrity last week. We are working to rebuild the trust in this room but it will not happen overnight. Please discuss behavior with your child prior to the field Science This week we will continue to work on our science research projects. Each student has chosen a small group to work with. The small groups received library books on extremely interesting animals like Gila Monsters and Ostriches. They will complete a research assignment and envelope book over the course of this week and for some time in April. Everyday Math Lesson 8.4-8.6 We will be focusing on the following skills: -Fractions as parts of a whole. -Fractions on a number line. -equivalent fractions -Fluency in multiplication. Please practice Music Reminder! Please allow your child to practice his or her recorder songs at home! This is a major part of their grade and there will be a performance!
