Students can write about anything they want. They can write about what this week was like – how they felt doing school at home, things they did, how it was similar to/different from being at school. They can write a story. They can write something informative about what we’ve learned in science. They get to choose the topic. But this is a great time to work on writing stamina – set a timer for 10 or 15 minutes and have them write the entire time. When the timer goes off, then they can add a picture. Science – Plants Get out your KWL Chart from yesterday. Discuss with students the things they learned. Did they answer any of the questions in the “W” Column. If they still have some unanswered questions, research and answer those together. Take a walk together. Talk about the different plants that you see. Notice what part of the plant life cycle they are in. Notice different parts of plants and how they are different on each plant. Let this be an exploration day! If it’s raining or you can’t go outside, you can do this with plants that you have indoors OR you can do a virtual tour of the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens here: https://www.bbg.org/collections/gardens Ordering Practice Grab items from outside – could be sticks, rocks, leaves, etc. (don’t pick any plants – we want to keep things alive) Line them up from shortest to longest. Take a picture and upload to your profile on Class Dojo or draw a picture. Repeat as you’d like. Worksheet #4: 3 Addend Story Problems Students should draw pictures to solve and write the addition sentence. *Optional Extension – Parents, you know your child. If they need bigger numbers, feel free to change some of the numbers in the math story to make them more challenging. ON THE BACK of the Worksheet: Number of the Day Students can choose which number to do: 71 or 234 Students should write the number they choose at the top of their paper and then do the following for that number: - 1 more - 1 less - 10 more - 10 less - Draw units, rods, and flats to represent (units are small squares that represent 1, rods are tall thin rectangles that represent

10, and flats are larger squares that represent 100) - ___ ones, ___ tens, ___ hundreds - Expanded form (23 would be 20 + 3) - Odd or Even - The number word Math Fluency Practice Spend 10 to 15 minutes on First in Math (available through Classlink) to practice fluency.
