Piecing InstructionsThis pattern is planned with precise 1/4 seams throughout. To test your 1/4 seam to see if its right oncut two pieces of fabric EXACTLY 1-1/2 x 5. Stitch them together along the 5 length. Measure acrosthe two - at the mid-point. They should be exactly 2-1/2 wide. If not, adjust your seam allowance, andrepeat this procedure until correct.

    1. Stitch each 2 x as long as possible bias Plaidinto a tube with a 1/8 seam. Turn and press,

    leaving the ends raw.

    2. Using your favorite Fusible for appliqu, trace aSnowman shape for each of the 6 blocks. Positionit on the Appliqu Background. Before fusing, fold a Step 1 scarf in half and slide the foldededge under the snowmans neck. Attach byfusing and then use your favorite stitch to securethe snowman to the background, keeping thescarf loose. (The scarf will lie out away from thesnowman until step 7.)

    3. Trace the Snowmans Hat on fusible and applyto Hat print. Also cut and fuse a nose. Fuse inplace and stitch. Make 6.

    4. Add the Plaid hatband by tracing and fusing onleft over plaid. Stitch in place.

    5. With a zigzag stitch and brown thread, giveeach snowman two arms, as shown. Youll need touse a stabilizer under this fabric to prevent ripplingor stretching.

    6. Either satin stitch or embellish with beads thedots for the coal mouth and eyes. Make 6.

    7. Tie the scarf on each snowman and lightly tackit in place with thread so it will stay. Make 6.
