I hope you have had a great summer so far and you’re ready to get back to school to LEARN! I have been busy getting our classroom ready for a fun-filled year together, and planning lessons and activities to challenge you to grow academically as well as socially this year. Included in this envelope is my “Meet the Teacher” flyer where you can learn all about me. Also, you will find the first homework assignment for you (the student) and the first homework assignment for the parents. What?! Homework already. . . don’t worry- it’s a quick and easy survey so that I can learn a little bit about you. Hi. My name is Mrs. Prosdocimo (prada-see-mo) or Mrs. Pro. You may better remember me as Miss DeRuyter; I recently got married over the summer. I will be your 4th grade homeroom teacher for the 2016-2017 school year! This will be my 5th year as an elementary teacher, and my 3rd year teaching at FES. I am excited to make this the best year yet!

I grew up right here in Pittsburgh where I attended Cornell School District from kindergarten through 12th grade. I was a swimmer in high school and college, played volleyball, was involved in many clubs and organizations, and graduated 3rd in my class!

I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I later earned my Masters degree in Elementary Education: Common Core Math and Science.
