Welcome to Mrs. Patterson’s 4th grade! We have a full week this week. I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Happy Veteran’s Day to all Veteran’s and their families and friends. Spelling will be a review week with 30 words and 10 challenge words this week! Nov. 23rd-Out at 2:30pm Nov.24th-25th: No School, Thanksgiving break BOOK REPORTS DUE: Wed. Nov. 23rd Language Arts Reading...This week we will read two short stories about two famous Americans; Duke Ellington and Amelia Earhardt. We will complete our second theme test of the year as well. We also will continue working on our independent reading as students will be completing a book report soon. We will check in with each student to see what they are reading as well as have time for them to convince others to read their books. Writing: Our compare/contrast writing will be this week! Math Science/Soc. St.

Our next read aloud is Roald Dahl’s “Matilda” about a young girl that is not loved by her parents or the Headmistress at her school. She is overly intelligent and loves to read!

Topic 7 :Multiplying by Two-Digit Numbers

Our 7th unit in math is on multiplying by two digits numbers. We will learn a few tricks to multiplying as well as have homework each night this week! We will be practicing our multiplication each day, remember to practice at home as well!. Students will engage in math explore activities, hands on activities, as well as partner and whole group lessons. Students are asked to practice their multiplication and division facts each night as they will be assessed on these on a weekly basis!

Our Daily Read Aloud!

Science: Our first unit in science is a focus on

Water and Weather. Students will create tornadoes in a bottle, study weather patterns and learn about the many uses of water. Our egg drop unit will also coincide with this science unit. Check the website to see updated pictures!

Social Studies: Many of our activities in Social Studies will involve learning our states, capitals, and regions. We will discuss parts of a map and how to navigate between two points. Students will be asked to complete a research project on a state of their choice during the 1st quarter as well. More information will be coming soon!
