Welcome Parents and Students!
Welcome to Third Grade!• I will introduce you to
third grade and to our classroom.
• If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.
All About Me• My background
– I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. – I moved to Montgomery and attended Alabama
State University and majored in Elementary Education.
• My experience– I’ve been teaching for 12 years.– I have also taught sixth and fourth grade, but third
grade is promised to be my favorite.

My Goals
• To give you the academic and social skills you need to progress to third grade.
• To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment.
• To help you make new friends and discover new interests.
• Most all, I plan to make sure you will have been taught all you need to know to prepare you for fourth grade.

Classroom Community
• Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other.
• Our class rules are:
– Be respectful and responsible.– Be organized and follow directions. – Be on time.– Be prepared.
Homework
• Homework will be given daily each night in reading and math.
• A reading log will be given each 9 weeks. Its must be signed daily and a grade will be given each week. If the log is not signed, 20 points will be deducted each day.
• Check your child’s homework log for assignments and upcoming tests.
• Read daily for twenty minutes and practice math facts. • Look for upcoming projects that will be due each nine
weeks and counted as major grade.
School Start Time
• If your child is tardy or late, please write an excuse and turn it in the next day.
• You have three days to send in a written excuse.
• Make sure your child take responsibility by keeping up with missed assignments. Make- up work can be done at home or during my planning. (It must be done within a week.)
Field Trips• We will be planning to have lots of fun field trips this
year!
– Some fieldtrips will be free and some there will be a charge. So please be prepared to pay for any upcoming field trips.
– Parents, who wish to attend fieldtrips with their child, must have a background check within 48 hours. (no exceptions: board policy. For further explanation, contact the principal or school board.
