Mrs Donna Chambers

Principal

Mrs. Donna Chambers is the principal at Clendenin Elementary

School. Mrs. Chambers and her husband live in Pinch and they

have two children. Their daughter Megan is 18 years old and

attends West Virginia State University and their son Travis and

their daughter-in-law Rachel live in Millwood, WV.

Mrs. Chambers is a graduate of West Virginia State University

where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary

Education and a graduate of Marshall University where she

earned a Master of Arts degree in Reading Education and

School Administration.

Mrs. Chambers began her career as a 3 rd grade teacher at

Glenwood Elementary. She also taught Title I Reading at Pratt

Elementary and 1 st grade at Marmet Elementary. Mrs.

Chambers was the assistant principal at Elk Elementary Center

before coming to Clendenin Elementary as principal.

In her spare time, Mrs. Chambers enjoys spending time with

her family, reading, and walking.

Mrs. Kathy Holcomb

Secretary

Mrs. Kathy Holcomb is the secretary at Clendenin Elementary.

She has been at Clendenin for 29 years and in her current

position as secretary for 28. Mrs. Holcomb attended Morris

Harvey College.

Mrs. Holcomb resides in Clendenin with her husband, Paul and

dog, Dozer. She has four children, Jennifer, Amy, Leah, and

Jared.

She has four grandchildren. Garrett ten years old, Noah four

years old, Hunter one year old, Jackson 4 years old. She loves

being a grandma.

In her spare time, Mrs. Holcomb enjoys fishing. Four wheeling,

watching and going to WVU football games

Mrs. Diana Hunt

School Nurse

Mrs. Diana Hunt is the nurse at Clendenin Elementary. She is a

graduate of Marshall University where she earned a Master of

Science in nursing degree.

She enjoys reading, photography and traveling.

She resides with her husband, Roy and sons Zachary and

Aaron.

Mrs. Hunt loves teaching Clendenin students how to be

healthy.

Mrs. Cathy Clendenin

Headstart/LEAP

Mrs. Cathy Clendenin is the Head Start/LEAP teacher at

Clendenin Elementary. She has been a teacher at Clendenin for

six years and has been teaching Head Start/LEAP for four

years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, K-

8 and a Master's degree in Reading both from Marshall

University.

Mrs. Clendenin has earned an additional masters in Preschool

Special Needs from West Virginia University.

Mrs. Clendenin resides in Clendenin with her husband, Casey,

and sons, Cole and Trent.

Mrs. Ami Palmer

Kindergarten

Mrs. Ami Palmer is a Kindergarten teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has been teaching for ten years and has been at

Clendenin for seven years, teaching Kindergarten for five

years. Mrs. Palmer attended Wheeling Jesuit University and

West Virginia State College and earned a degree in Elementary

Education, K-8.

Mrs. Palmer resides in Clendenin with her husband, Derek, and

daughters Delaney Zayne and Amaira Michelle. She has three

dogs and one cat. Her hobbies include scrapbooking, reading,

walking and crafts.

Mrs. Judy Rhule

Kindergarten

Mrs. Judith Rhule is a Kindergarten teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has been teaching thirty years, all at

Clendenin. She has taught Kindergarten for the past seven

years. Mrs. Rhule is a graduate of Concord College and holds a

BS degree in Education.

Mrs. Valerie

Swiger

1st Grade

Mrs. Valerie Zornes Swiger began teaching at Clendenin

Elementary in 1992 in Kindergarten where she spent 10 years

until moving to her current position of First Grade teacher for

the last 9 years.

Mrs. Swiger is a graduate of West Virginia State College where

she earned a BA in Elementary Education. She received her

MA from WVU plus 30 hours in Communication Studies.

Mrs. Swiger currently resides in Clarksburg, yes that’s right,

Clarksburg with her husband and her dog, LillyBell. When she

is not driving to or from work, she enjoys reading, watching

classic movies, crafts, and shopping for treasures at yard sales

and the local thrift stores around Clarksburg. She also enjoys

collecting anything and everything related to the Peanuts

Comic Strip.

Mrs. Kathie

McCroskey

1st Grade

Mrs. Kathie McCroskey is a first grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has been teaching for thirty-one years and has

been at Clendenin teaching first grade for the past twenty-one

years. Mrs. McCroskey attended West Virginia University,

West Virginia State College, and West Virginia College of

Graduate Studies. She holds Bachelor's degrees in Elementary

Education, Special Education, and Social Studies, and Masters

degree in Special Education with concentrations in Behavior

Disorder and Mental Impairment.

Mrs. McCroskey resides in Amma with her husband, Jeff. Her

daughter, Chelsea attends WVU in Morgantown.

Mrs. McCroskey has a dog named Jasmine. In her spare time

she enjoys snow skiing and gardening.

Mrs. Alysia Moody

2nd Grade

Mrs. Alysia Moody is a second grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary.

She has taught every grade from kindergarten through sixth

grade. She has taught first, second, third, and fourth grades at

Clendenin Elementary School.

She attended Glenville State College earning her BA degree in

Elementary/Early Childhood Education. and West Virginia

University earning her MA in Communication Studies.

She has 45 addition hours of graduate studies from Marshall

University.

Mrs. Bettie Kee

3rd Grade

Mrs. Bettie Kee is a third grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary.

Mrs. Kee attended Glenville State College, Morris Harvey, and

West Virginia University. She has earned a Bachelor's degree

in Education and Master's degree in Communication.

Mrs. Kee resides in Clendenin with her husband, John. She has

two children, Jennifer and Nathan. Mrs. Kee enjoys basketball,

walking, and swimming.

Mrs. Lynette Lucas

Mrs. Lynette Lucas is a third grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary.

Mrs. Lucas is a graduate of the University of Charleston with a

bachelor's degree.

Mrs. Lucas resides in Clendenin with her husband, Tony, and

sons, Zachary and Parker. She has two dogs and one fish. In her

spare time, Mrs. Lucas enjoys shopping and reading and loves

watching basketball and football games.

Mrs. Lori Cutlip

4th Grade

Mrs. Lori Cutlip is a fourth grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary.

Mrs. Jackie Ward

4th Grade

Mrs. Jackie Ward is a fourth grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has been teaching for twenty five years and

has been at Clendenin for eight years.

Mrs. Ward attended WV Tech, WV State and WV College of

Graduate Studies. She has earned degrees in Elementary

Education 1-6, Social Studies 4-8, and a MA in Reading K-12.

Mrs. Ward resides in Charleston with her husband Gary. She

has two children, Kelly and Gary, and seven grandchildren .

Mrs. Ward's daughter Kelly is a First Sargent and is currently

serving in Afghanistan with the United States Army.

In her spare time Mrs. Ward enjoys reading and traveling

Mrs. Wanda Ross

5th Grade

Mrs. Wanda Ross is a fifth grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has been teaching for nineteen years,all of

which have been at Clendenin. Mrs. Ross has attended West

Virginia State College, Marshall University, and the University

of WV COGS. She has a bachelor's degree in Elementary

Education and a master's degree in Elementary Education with

a concentration in secondary math.

Mrs. Ross resides in Amma with her husband, Bill. She has

three children, Nora McPherson, Billy Ross, and Ricky Ross.

She also has three grandchildren, Morgan McPherson, Forrest

Harper, and Kacie Ross. Mrs. Ross has three dogs and four

Quarter Horses.

In her spare time, Mrs. Ross enjoys traveling, reading and horse

shows.

Ms. Whitney Haas

5th Grade

Ms. Whitney Haas is a fifth grade teacher at Clendenin

Elementary.

Mrs.Holly Hitt

Speech Therapist

Mrs. Holly Hitt is the speech therapist at Clendenin

Elementary. This is her second year at Clendenin. She

received both her bachelors and masters degree in

Communication Disorders from Marshall University. She

resides in Charleston with her husband Frank and their cat

Reece.

Mrs. Karen Mullins

Physical Education

Mrs. Karen Mullins is the Physical Education teacher at

Clendenin Elementary.

Humphreys

Special Education

Mrs. Deborah Humphreys is a special educator at Clendenin

Elementary. She has thirty two years of experience and has

been at Clendenin for the past four years. Mrs. Humphreys is a

graduate of West Virginia University.

Mrs. Michelle Callen

Title I Reading

Mrs. Michelle Callen is a Title I Reading teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has taught ten years. She is a graduate of

Marshall University and has a master's degree in Elementary

Education. She also has a reading specialist certification.

Mrs. Callen has lived in Clendenin for five and one half years

with her husband Jeremy Callen. She has two daughters,

Kennedy and Kendra.

Ms. Kathy Ragland

Title I Reading

Ms. Ragland has moved from 4th grade to Title I Reading.

Mrs. Linda Miller

Title I Math

Mrs. Linda Miller is a Title I Math teacher at Clendenin

Elementary. She has twenty-five years teaching experience and

has been a Title I Math teacher for fourteen. Mrs. Miller is a

graduate of Marshall University and COGS with degrees in

Elementary Education 1-8, Mathematics 1-9, and School

Psychology.

Mrs. Miller resides in Elkview with her husband, Gary, and son

James. Mrs. Miller's hobbies include stained glass, boating,

hiking, gardening, and traveling.

Mrs. Carmela Ryan-

Thompson

Title I Math

Mrs. Carmela Ryan-Thompson is a Title I Math teacher at

Clendenin Elementary. She has been teaching for twenty-eight

years, and this is her third year at Clendenin. Mrs. Thompson

attended WV Tech and West Virginia State University. She

holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a

specialization in math.

Mrs. Thompson resides in Pinch with her husband Chester,

daughter, Beth and her father, who makes his home with her.

She also has a daughter Jill, living in Ohio.

Mrs. Thompson loves to read, travel and ride her horse, Black

Dahlia, who is expecting a foal in May.

Mr. Paul Moore

Music

Mr. Paul Moore is the Elementary Music Specialist at

Clendenin Elementary. He has thirty-five years experience and

has been at Clendenin for five years. Mr. Moore is a graduate

of Conservatory of Music: University of Cincinnati, and WV

College of Graduate Studies.

Mr. Moore resides in South Charleston with his wife, Linda. He

has one son, Paul III. They have a pet named Bethanie. In Mr.

Moore's spare time, he enjoys composition, writing,

railroading, and painting.

Mrs. Janice Smith

Librarian

Mrs. Janice Smith is the Librarian at Clendenin Elementary.

She has been teaching for twenty five years and has been at

Clendenin for nine years. Mrs. Smith attended WV Tech, WV

State, Concord and Marshall Graduate College. She holds

degrees in 4-8 Social Studies, K-6 Multi-subject, MA Gifted K-

8, Library Science K-12.

Mrs. Smith resides in Clendenin with her husband, Lloyd. She

has two sons, Chris and Kendall. In her spare time, Mrs. Smith

enjoys reading and fishing.

Mrs. Smith has four grandchildren: Evan, Ava, Max and

Anderson.

Ms.Nicole

Brookover

Counselor

Ms. Nicole Brookover is the counselor here at Clendenin

Elementary school. This is her first year at Clendenin. She has

been substituting in Kanawha County since 2009.

Ms. Brookover is originally from Vienna, WV – near

Parkersburg, WV. She moved here after she obtained her

undergraduate degree, B.A. in Counseling, from Marshall

University in 2007. She then went on to Marshall Universities

Graduate College in South Charleston where she received her

Master’s in School Counseling in 2009.

In her free time, Ms. Brookover likes to go home and spend

time with her family. She loves to be outside and loves doing

numerous sports and activities; corn hole, tennis, swimming,

golf, etc. She also likes traveling, watching live football and

baseball games, and live country music.

Tammy, Angie, and Michael. She has four grandchildren. In

her spare time, Mrs. Harper enjoys reading, cleaning house, and

shopping.

Clendenin for 14 years and is looking forward to retirement.
