In 1959. he was an Academy ' Award contender for h i s brilliant performance in T H E LAST HURRAH.
On television Mr. O'Brien was starred in the series HARRIGAN AND SONS but 18 a favorite guest star on such shows as GOINCl MY WAY T H E ACK PAAR SHOW and DICK PO+ELL TdEATRE.
Mr. O'Brien returned to B'way in 1951 to create the starring role in MISS LONELY HEARTS which won high praise from I h c critics. His first B'way attempt was as a chorus boy and dancer. After attending N. Y.'s Ameri- can Academy of Dramatic Arts, he perfonn in stock companies and road shows, then in small arts on B'way. Mr. O'Brien was in thr originaf Broadway company of FRONT PAGE when Howard Hughes HW him and took hi; to Hollywood to lay the lead in the movie version of the p t y . He was an immediate success In addition to appearin with Mrs. 0 ' ~ r i e l ; in DEAR RUTH and HOLIDAY FOR LOVERS on tour this summer, Pat has been starred as the Ca tain in MISTER ROBERTS and Finisn in F I ~ I A N ' S RAINBOW in stock.
The O'Briens have been married for thirty- ,two years, have four children and six grand- :children.
:ELOISE O'BRIEN (Mra. Edith Wilkins) was just beginning a career as a talented acfiess when she met and married the young, promis- ing, but still struggling actor in 1931. They met while both were .phasing in the Chicago company of BROADWAY at the Selwyn The- atre and Pat's courtship began the day they met.
During the 32 years since her wedding day, having given up one career. Mrs. O'Brien has become a success in I quartet of others, all of
