thE EF Multi-SubStrAtE FlExo PrESS

The EF is a high-quality and highly automated multi-

substrate flexo press, especially designed for label

production and flexible packaging printing on thin

unsupported film or thick cartonboard. The EF is mPS’

flagship press, providing the ultimate in flexibility and

enabling operators to maximize press performance,

thanks to its ease of operation and reliability.

Different materials and designs can be converted on the

EF, and the press is equipped with all possible converting

options, including multi layer label production.

thE EF VErSionS

The EF press offers a choice of either plate rolls or print

sleeves: with plate rolls, printers have the flexibility to

use their existing tooling. The EF can also be equipped

with additional automation packages for automated

print pressure settings. It features UV or LED curing

allowing production with UV inks and hot-air, or IR

drying technology for water based inks.

The EF is the perfect solution for label and packaging

printers in all market segments including food &

beverage, household, pharmaceutical & medical,

security, industrial, personal care and more. The unique

web transportation system of the EF allows operators to

print on a variety of substrates including thin film, paper,

Crisp.Dot tEChnology:

FlExo MEEtS oFFSEt quAlity

mPS’ characteristic differentiator is its crisp.Dot

technology. By adding a free running impression

roller, preventing friction in the printing process,

higher print quality is achieved and less errors

because of barring are realized. The result is

the ability to print in stable register the most

demanding quality labels, mono-films and carton

board, as well as shrink sleeve, inmold, tube

laminate and aluminum substrates.

iControl tEChnology:

uSEr-FriEndly Control

The icontrol button enables the operator to control

all servo adjustments very easily with LED lights

providing instant feedback, which simplifies machine

control and operation. The digital icontrol has user-

friendly reference clicks to improve the interaction

between the press operator and the press.

Job MEMory:

MAxiMuM rEPEAtAbility

The EF is a servo driven press with a main control

panel with job memory controlling all press settings

for maximum repeatability. The job memory

functionality allows the press settings used for

a specific job to be loaded into job memory for

automatic recall during repeat jobs, which reduces

set-up waste and offers simpler machine operation.

auTOmaTiOn

Three automation features of the EF that help

maximize the performance of the press and the

operator, are servo-drives, AutoTeach, and iStop.

with the use of servo-drives, all press settings are

automated in the EF, this reduces set-up waste and

offers simpler machine operation. AutoTeach enables

operators to determine the desired web path and the

machine teaches itself automatically the web path

being used. The iStop technology optimizes stops and

starts during printing whilst drastically reducing waste.

flexible cOnveRTing

In addition to converting applications, mPS offers

unique solutions for the production of multi-layer

labels, such as the in-register laminator, cross-

over unit and multi-web application. The converting

units can be implemented at any location along the

press using the flexible positioning rail system. The

rail and rail units are designed in a way that there

is no need for realignment when changing the

positions of rail units. Rail units are quick to unlock,

easy to move, quick to lock and ready to go.

The robust design of the EF press results in an

extreme register stability. It is very easy to set

the EF in register and once set, the register

remains stable. Even when setting the web

tension settings to an extremely low value, the

register remains stable. This is achieved with

EF’s crisp.Dot technology, robust design and

short web technology. This stellar combination

delivers consistent, reliable, and unmatched

high print quality.

ease Of OpeRaTiOn

The innovative iSet, icontrol, and quick change die

technologies facilitate the EF press to operate with

ease. iSet is a print pressure setting that permits the

press operator to make independent adjustments, left

and right or parallel. The iSet adjustment has a ratchet

design in order that it can be used blindly. The icontrol

button provides easy control of all servo adjustments.

The quick change die system enables the press

operator to open and close the unit quickly so that the

system can be used without the need for lifting bridges.

with the mPS Nonstop Print change technology,

the press operator is able to change the sleeve in a

print station while the press is running. In addition

to design changes, the language or a color can be

changed without stopping the press and without

producing any waste.

Bosch Rexroth servo technology with job memory

control all EF press settings for maximum

repeatability: pre-register, register, web tension,

AutoTeach, iStop, printing speed, corona, hot air, UV,

and more. The main control panel is a Bosch Rexroth

touch screen, controlled by the icontrol interface.

The EF ink pan with release coating also holds the

metering roller. In this way, the press operator can

change the ink pan and the metering roller together.

AutoMAtion ExtEnSion PACkAgES

ApC package

The APc (Automatic Print control) package provides

automation on the print sleeve settings. with the

use of servo positioning technology, the print sleeves

are loaded automatically, while the APc option

automatically sets the desired print pressure settings.

The package also contains slide-out ink drawers

and the mPS Dynamic Print control technology to

guarantee automated flawless and consistent print

quality.

ApC Advanced package

The APc Advanced package includes all APc

features in addition to Automatic Print control

on the print gap (substrate related). For initial

jobs, material calibration memory is uploaded and

recalled for repeat jobs. Print positional settings

for print sleeves and anilox rolls can also be stored

and recalled. All desired print pressure settings

are achieved within seconds and waste quota is

virtually negligible.
