Hi Sue, I am writing this as an endorsement of your Manpower2Horsepower program. You and SMP Motorsports truly grasp one of the most important concepts of a transitioning service-member - The civilian job search/career development. With your Manpower2Horsepower program, you have used your available resources to show men and women leaving our military that patriots like yourself are willing to assist them in their respective industries. In your program, a transitioning servicemember can experience the thrill of racing around the dirt track which is a tangible result of hard work and dedication to a trade and the team that makes it happen. You are savvy enough to know the ride along program is so much more than a one-shot thrill. You use it to build a relationship with the participants by introducing them to your crews, treating them like family (not VIP's), and showing them such a craft may be right up their alley upon leaving military service. Then, you offer your shops and your crews' expertise to provide informal training opportunities for the member if they choose to visit and "intern" side-by-side with your folks. You clearly understand that not all Marines and Soldiers want college classrooms or office cubicles when they leave the military, so you have dedicated your resources, coupled with your compassion and patriotism, to serve warriors. Your program allows warriors to work hard, sweat, and get dirty with like-minded patriots. That is a very comfortable circumstance for many of us. I appreciate your dedication and service to our military members. Thanks for all you do! My best, Ed Salau Ph: 252-622-1807 [email protected] Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone with SprintSpeed

To Whom It May Concern:

Rowan Cabarrus Community College is proud to be a part of the operations of SMP Motorsports in Mooresville, NC. Through our Motorsports Management Program, Web Design, Office Systems Technology curricula and more, we have been able to send students to SMP for hands-on experience and so much more.

This employer/student relationship is structured through our Cooperative Education Program which is designed to give the students hands-on experience in their majors. While participating in the program with SPM, the students can clarify a career interest/goal, increase their marketability upon graduation, work in a structured environment for learning technical skills, add relevance to classroom instruction, advance in maturity and human relations skills, earn academic credit, enhance resumes, gain references and work experience while using specialized facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.

SMP offers their specialized knowledge of the industry to our students through extensive hands-on learning, allowing the students to increase their abilities, talents and knowledge while gaining the imperative tools they will need for their professional futures. SMP staff take great pride in their mentoring responsibilities and relationships with their students.

It is always, with great pleasure and comfort, we support and send our students to the staff at SMP. We know from experience, that SMP takes that “special” time to mentor, support and grow future motorsports employees. RCCC is fortunate to have SMP as a partner in our students’ education experience and we look forward to many years of participation with them.

Sincerely,

Dottie Moore

Cooperative Education Coordinator

About Manpower to HorsepowerManpower to Horsepower is a unique program founded by Sue Roberson and SMP Motorsports to give back to disabled veterans. The program provides a ride-along program that is handicap accessible to those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The program utilizes custom-made late model cars which allow a handicapped passenger the opportunity to ride shotgun around dirt tracks. The goal for 2010 is to provide this experience at 48 events throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and GeorgiaMission Statement

• To build strategic alliances with various motorsports programs and educators across the country.

• To provide disabled veterans of our armed forces the experience of racing at the grass roots level, providing a unique ride-along experience and provide them with an opportunity to learn a valuable vocation and utilize that education and training within the racing community.

• provide a visible outlet for our troops who are wounded, to show that they can still remain engaged and productive

New Marketing Partners SMP Motorsports and Manpower to Horsepower is seeking corporate involvement in their endeavor to provide educational assistance and stability to our wounded veterans. Companies such as The University of Northwestern Ohio who had the 1st and still the only High Performance Motorsports, 2 or 4 year degree program in the world, is extremely proud of their involvement with SMP and the Manpower to Horsepower program. Stephen Farmer, VP of Business Development for UNOH stated, “Our University has always supported the military in any way we can. Either providing continuing payroll and insurance to our employees that were activated during U.S. combat operations, discounting tuition for veterans and their immediate family, making sure our tuition rates were well below the cap offered by VA or starting our own ROTC program.” That is why this program is important. It helps give something back to those veterans that given everything they have defending the freedoms we cherish so much”.

To Whom It May Concern, My name is Marianne Walters and I am a Regional Captain for Soldiers' Angels, a non-profit organization that aides and supports the troops of all military branches in the United States. I have had the privilege of working with Sue Roberson of SMP Motorsports.

SMP's program, Manpower to Horsepower, is an outstanding program in which to rehabilitate the wounded veterans. The vets not only get to work with that which they have a passion; the racecars, but they also will be able to associate with others that have similiar abilities. This will give them a secure and chaperoned setting in which to use thier hands and learn new skills, all the while, connecting with the outside world, thus minimizing the PTSD effect. We all know that an idle mind is the devil's playground and these individuals need one-on-one contact and activities. I feel that this program would be paramount in the rehabilitation of wounded, both veterans and non-veterans alike.-- MARIANNE WALTERSREGIONAL CAPTAINSOLDIERS' ANGELS704-400-7804www.soldiersangels.org
