    Applications

Mowilith LDM 7900 is especially designed as a binder for flexible and crack-bridging wall coating systems. Mowilith LDM 7900 allows the formulation of impermeable coatings.

Mowilith LDM 7900 is also suitable for the formulation of roof coatings with elastomeric properties.

The polymer film of Mowilith LDM 7900 exhibit low water uptake and high resistance to saponification. Mowilith LDM 7900 shows a high elongation at break at temperatures down to -10C. Mowilith LDM 7900 has both an internal and UV curing crosslinking system. Therefore tack and dirty pick-up are very low after exposure to sunlight.

Processing The usual titanium dioxide rutile type and coloured pigments as well as fillers may be used for the formulation of paints. To ensure adequate storage stability long term storage trials are recommended at any rate, especially when fillers and coloured pigments with a large specific surface area are chosen. In addition to the widespread used polyphosphates the salts of low molecular weight polyacrylic acids (e. g. Mowiplus XW 330, Emucryl D) working as a dispersing agent should also be used to achieve further stability. Depending on the pigments and extenders the required quantity is in the range of 0.1 and 0.4 % active substance relative to the pigment/extender mixture.

Many thickeners are usable to adjust the desired viscosity of the paint and to improve its processability. Very good results are achieved by employing Tylose grades of the H and MH series with retarded swelling and medium to high molecular weight. Associative PU or acrylic thickeners (Mowilith LDM 7002, Mowilith LDM 7020 can be used as well alone or in combination.

A lot of commercially available defoamers can be included in order to prevent excessive foaming in the

  • paints. Trials must be carried out to determine the most suitable grades and the correct concentration.

The Colanyl pigment preparations are usable for tinting paints. Organic pigments should be tested for their suitability for exterior paints, especially in the case of pastel tones.

Preservation and Storage To prevent attack by micro organisms the preservatives normally used for polymer dispersions should be added despite our preliminary preservation measures. Checks should be carried out to determine their compatibility and efficacy.

Mowilith LDM 7900 should not be stored for longer than 6 months before processing. As far as possible, storage should be at a uniform temperature in the region of 5 25 C. The product should, in principle, be kept away from frost.

The technical data ascertained by our quality control laboratory at the time of product release may vary according to the storage time and storage conditions and may deviate from the stated limits.

Industrial Safety and Environmental Protection Not a hazardous substance within the meaning of the current Dangerous Substances Regulations (GefStoffV).

A safety data sheet is available on request.
