Instructions for moving geo-referenced PDF maps created

in GIS from your PC to your iPad for use in Avenza PDF Maps

------------prepared by Larry Aragon

Connect iPad to PC via supplied data

Cable and open Itunes

Click on your ipad device

name under “Devices”

Click on “Apps”

1. Open up the folder with

your PDF formatted maps on

the PC

2. Find PDF Maps on in

the Apps section in Itunes

and click on it

3. Now drag all the map files you

want to move to iPad into “PDF

Maps Documents” list area

On your iPad, start the

“Avenza PDF Maps”

program

Tap the “+” symbol to

add/import maps

Select “From Itunes File

Sharing”

2. Select the map file to

import

1. Important: uncheck the

option to “Keep source file

after import”

To improve the image quality of your map, you will

render it in higher quality after it imports. Open

your map and click on the “i” icon

You’ll now see a progress bar next to your

map file name as it is loaded. While you are

waiting you can click the “+” icon and add

additional maps for importing.

Select “Advance Options”

Select “Render Map in High

Resolution

You will now see a progress bar next to your

map as it is rendered in High Quality. This takes

a while. You can select more maps to be

rendered while this is working. After you pick

many maps to render you can walk away and

let the iPad process them.

That’s it! You are done
