When I accepted a transfer to

Calgary three months after our wedding, we

never dreamed that on January 1, 2010 we would be back at FAC – our home church when we first arrived in Calgary. We can’t say, “We made a smart move.” What we do say is, “God was at work in our lives and we didn’t even realize it!” I could have refused the transfer – I was given the choice. We were young, naïve and ready for adventure, not realizing this was only the first step into a journey full of surprises, painful experiences and great victories!

When we said to God, “We’ll be what you want us to be, do whatever you want us to do and go wherever you want us to go,” we didn’t know it would involve changing careers

6 times, moving to 7 different cities in 3 provinces and back to Calgary in our 56 years of mar-riage. Every change involved counting the cost, but the most difficult choice came when I received a clear call to leave the business world and assume the role of pastor. In my struggle God graciously took me to Luke 9:62 where Jesus said, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”

When we reflect on our journey with God, we can say change has been good for us because He has used that to grow us to become the people we are today – disciples of Jesus.The best choice I ever made was to keep on following Jesus!
