Aims
To demonstrate the skills required to achieve the National Certificate in Adult Numeracy at Level 2.
To outline the proposed training package, incorporating basic skills support strategies leading to test entry and achievement.

Outcomes
By the end of the session participants will have:
• knowledge of the numeracy skills covered by the National Certificate in Adult Numeracy
• sampled the test and initial assessment tools
• received initial feedback on skill levels and areas needing brushing up
• built confidence and had an enjoyable experience of learning.

Separate standards for numeracy and literacy.
Specify full range of skills required for an adult to communicate and apply numeracy effectively and confidently.

What are the National Tests inAdult Numeracy like?
Short – 1 hour 15 minutes
40 multiple choice questions – one mark each
Four possible answers, three wrong but plausible
Pass mark 30 out of 40
Numeracy coverage:• Number: whole numbers (N1) and fractions,
decimals and percentages (N2)• Measures, shape and space: Common measures
(MSS1) and shape and space (MSS2)• Handling data: data (HD1) and probability (HD2)

30 hours – ten three-hour modules
