PANEL STACKING ARRANGEMENTS
CONFIGURATION ADVANTAGE SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
CENTRE STACK
This is the most common stacking
arrangement. For extra stability,
the panels are operated and
hinged in pairs. With a full height
pass door option, the door will
open to only one side of track.
No additional
headwork required for
stacking area (only a
straight track
required). Ideal for
bulkhead Installations.
Low cost
Stronger structural
support required due
to the ability to stack all
panels anywhere along
the track (point load).
Can accommodate up
to 15 deg corners.
SIDE OFFSET STACK
The easiest way to operate panels
as they are individually pushed
alongside the track. All the panels
will stack to one side of the track.
Easy to operate
Point load only at the
stack end
Can accommodatecorners and columns
Extra headwork
required for the stack
track. (If fitted to a
bulkhead, a separate
bulkhead required for
track).
REMOTE OFFSET STACK
Similar to side stack, but panels
are moved along the track to a
remote stacking area away from
the main track eg. Into a separate
niche, stacking bay, storage room
etc.
Can be stored in a
separate area
No panels seen when
wall is open
Can accommodate
corners and columns
Extra costs involved
with requirements for
extra tracking and
headwork.

ACOUSTIC SEALS
PANEL FINISHES
There are several factors to be considered while deciding on the appropriate seals for the Acoustic
movable wall application. The main factor is the desired Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating.
Many find a fixed sweeping seal to be sufficient, but for a higher STC rating, a retractable, mechanical seal
is suggested. A mechanical retractable top and bottom seal allows for easier movement of the panels
when retracted, and ensures a more stable wall when engaged onto the floor.
The 7000 Series Acoustic movable walls are supplied in bare MDF finish. However, the external surface of
panels can be customised with various options of external finishes which includes: Fabric, Pin-board,
Whiteboard, Vinyl (or) Veneer.

ACOUSTIC STC (SOUND TRANSMISSION CONTROL)
STC CHART AND AREAS OF APPLICATIONS:
34 - 38dB Loud speech understood Schools
38 42dB Normal speech audible Libraries / Laboratories
40 44dB Loud speech audible Meeting / Conference rooms
43 47dB Loud speech barely audible Hotel Banquet halls / Board rooms
46 50dB Shouting not audible Community halls / Private meeting rooms
STC RATING & PANEL WEIGHTS:
41 dB 21 Kg/Sqm
42 dB 23 Kg/ Sqm
44 dB 26 Kg/ Sqm
45 dB 39 Kg/ Sqm
A typical insulated wall has a STC rating between 34-39, and so, even our most basic movable wall will
perform better than a standard partition. While deciding the best sound rating for acoustic movable
wall, it is important to consider few points.
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link - In this case, the weak links are the unattended spaces which
easily allows for sound transmission, viz., the air ducts, open space in the false ceiling etc.

CLOSURES
STILES
JAMBS
To ensure that the Acoustic movable wall flush with wall surface in closed position and still open easily
when required; an expanding telescopic panel is used, which seals up against the wall with the turn of a
crank handle. Another option is a pass door, which will allow for access to separated rooms when the wall
is still in closed position.
The aluminium panel and door stiles are designed to achieve excellent sound insulation qualities. Using
an interlocking male-female principle, the stiles lock the panels together and become airtight with the
use of rubber seals. The MDF panel faces are protected within the aluminium frame, leaving 10mm
exposed aluminium surrounds when the panels are closed.
The ends of the opening can be fitted with an adjustable jamb, which can compensate tolerances in wall
surface by plus or minus 10mm. Sufficient stud structure is required behind the jambs, particularly
behind a door jamb, to carry the weight of a door.
