MOUSE - INNOVATIONS
THE BEGINNING
Douglas Engelbart at the Stanford Research Institute invented the first mouse prototype in 1963, with the assistance of his colleague Bill English.
MOUSE - VARIANTS
Mechanical Mouse A mechanical mouse is a computer mouse
that contains a metal or rubber ball on its under side.
Laser Mouse A laser mouse is a type of optical
mouse that uses laser light to detect mouse movement.
Inertial and Gyroscopic Mouse Often called "air mice" since they do not require a
surface to operate, inertial mice use a tuning fork or to detect rotary movement for every axis supported.
3D Mouse Also known as bats, flying mice, or wands, these
devices generally function through ultrasound and provide at least three degrees of freedom.
Tactile Mouse In 2000, Logitech introduced the "tactile mouse", which
contained a small actuator that made the mouse vibrate.
Ergonomic Mouse As the name suggests, this type of mouse is
intended to provide optimum comfort and avoid injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and other repetitive strain injuries.
