Partial Closures of Central Expressway at Light Rail Crossing8 p.m. to 5 a.m., July 2-6, 10-13 and 17-20

A series of three weekend-long, partial closures of Central Expressway between Whisman Road and Ferguson Drive in Mountain View are scheduled as work begins on building a new, second track adjacent to the existing light rail crossing of Central Expressway.

During the three July partial closures, one entire side of Central Expressway will be shut down between Whisman Road and Ferguson Drive, with traffic in both directions travelling on the opposite side of the center median. Uniformed law officers will be stationed at both intersec-tions to direct traffic.

The three partial lane closures will all begin at 8 p.m. on that first evening and continue until 5 a.m. the following Monday or whenever work is complete, whichever comes first. Currently, lane closures are scheduled for July 2-6, 10-13, and 17-20, 2015, although other closures at a later date are possible. 1506-0185

A second light rail track and signaling equipment will be added between Mountain View Transit Center and Whisman Station.

Construction activities will include installing an underground utility duct and signaling equipment, modifying the overhead electrical system and laying track. Trenching and concrete pours are other schedule construction activities and nearby residents may experience

noise from these activities. Crews will need to work around the clock each weekend in order to ensure the roadway is re-opened before the Monday morning commute.
