Introduction• A published author and attorney, Edward Adams practices

law at Adams Grumbles, LLP, where he serves as partner. Away from work, Edward Adams is an active member of his community and supports Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. Having contributed bibles and hymnals to Mount Olivet, he also contributed to the creation of a church garden dedicated to the memory of his parents.

Mount Olivet Lutheran Church is home to rain gardens that are nourished by a drainage system that transports water from the James Avenue side of the driveway. Also known as run-off, this system eliminates the church’s water waste that would otherwise be filtered out into the Minnehaha Creek and sewers.

Mount Olivet Lutheran Church• Volunteers gathered during the summer of 2012 to

plant river birch trees and foliage native to the region. During heavy rain seasons, visitors can enjoy the garden in full bloom.

In January 2014, Mount Olivet Lutheran Church received exciting news from Metro Blooms. The nonprofit organization honored the church with the Best Congregational Rain Garden award for 2013 at the Minneapolis Garden Awards. Congregation member Laura Morrill, who maintains the rain gardens, accepted the award on behalf of the church.
