Disassembly - Step 1
Power off your device
Remove the battery cover, battery, Sim Card, and Micro SD card
Remove the eight (8) Torx T5 Screws, including a hidden screw near the Sim Card Tray
*Note that some of these screws are diff erent sizes, so keep them organized

Disassembly - Step 2
Use your pry tool or nylon spudger to release the clips holding the back plastic housing to the device. By sliding your tool around the seam it will release these clips allowing you to remove the back housing. Be cautious though – as there is an antenna cable still connected to the motherboard.

Removing the Motherboard - 1
Release the antenna flex cable. Use a pry tool to gently lift the cable up and away from the motherboard.

Removing the Motherboard - 2
With the motherboard fully exposed you will now be able to lift the motherboard up, revealing three (3) hidden connectors under the board.
To lift the motherboard you will have to pry near the dock port / HDMI port.

Removing the Motherboard - 3
Release the three (3) connectors located under the motherboard. The bottom two are “pop” connectors. The upper connector is a “jaw” clip.
With all the connections released you can remove the motherboard fully from the device.

Releasing the Digitizer Flex Cable – Step 1
Gently lift back the info sticker and place it to the side for re-assembly.
This flex cable is adhered onto the housing. Use a pry tool the gently lift this away from the frame.

Releasing the Digitizer Flex Cable – Step 2
Use your spudger to release the front camera and remove the rubber grommet.
Release the touch screen connector.
Remove this plastic piece covering a slot in the front housing.

Releasing the Digitizer Flex Cable – Step 3
Using a spudger, release the touch screen flex cable from the housing. It is held in place with a bit of adhesive.

Heating the Screen Assembly
Using a heat gun or hair dryer, warm the outside edges of the front screen assembly. This will soften the adhesive holding the screens in place. Move quickly around the edges on medium heat for about 30 seconds.

Removing the Touch Screen
Once the adhesive is properly warmed you can then begin releasing the touch screen from the front frame. Use a pry tool or spudger to release the adhesive, being cautious of the flex cable located in the upper left corner

Removing the LCD Screen
If you are replacing the touch screen you can rip the touch screen flex cable and fully remove the glass from the device.
If replacing the LCD screen only, you will need to remove the LCD screen first, before being able to remove the touch screen.
To remove the LCD screen you will need to apply outward pressure and gently pry the LCD out. This will allow you to slip the digitizer flex cable through the small slot in the housing

Prepping the Touch Screen Digitizer
If replacing the touch screen digitizer, apply fresh cut adhesive to the screen assembly.
*Be sure you do not cover any camera or sensor holes with adhesive

Installing the New Screen(s) – Step 1
Regardless which screen you are replacing, fold the touch screen flex cable into position, through the slot in the housing PRIOR to putting in the LCD screen. Be sure the inner touch screen protector has been removed.

Installing the New Screen(s) – Step 2
The LCD screen can now be slipped in from the bottom, insuring the LCD flex cable fits into the slot in the housing. Once the LCD is in place, apply pressure outward of the housing to snap the LCD in place.

Re-Assembling the Digitizer Flex Cable - 1
Press the touch screen flex cable into its housing. Be sure the cable is facing the correct direction.
Insert the front camera grommet.

Re-Assembling the Digitizer Flex Cable - 2
Insert the plastic cover over the housing slot.
You can now connect the touch screen flex cable and re-attach the flex cable to the housing

Re-Assembling the Motherboard - 1
Re-insert the three (3) flex cables into the connection on the underside of the motherboard. With the connections in place you can flip the motherboard to the right.

Re-Assembling the Motherboard - 2
Use your pry tool to lift the housing near the dock port. You can then insert the motherboard fully in place.
Re-attach the antenna wire back onto the motherboard. You can then press the back housing over the motherboard until it clips fully in place.
