Introduction
Movintracks offers dashboard that makes it possible to configure messages and
interactions in mobile terminals.
From Virgin Airlines, to Starbucks, to McDonalds, many of the big brands are jumping on this new technology. Many
know beacons for its retail functionality, but there are many small
to mid-size businesses that have gotten creative with beacons in 2014. We hope this guide gets your creative
juices flowing. The possibilities for beacons are seemingly endless. The
technology is growing constantly. Ready or not, here beacons come.

Automatic App
The Automatic App is an award-winning car adapter. In the past year, it been updated to use iBeacon technology. It is an app that seems expensive at almost 100$ but it can actually save
you much more than that by providing alerts on tire pressure, oil changes and general driving feedback. The iBeacon
implementation was apparently seamless. See the example below, but they essentially created a system for users to
securely identify themselves and their cars to various automotive service providers. This is a reminder that you do not
need to start fresh and create a whole new application to use iBeacons, but there are many creative ways to improve existing
apps with this beacon technology.
"Say you’re leaving a parking garage and instead of stopping to pay an attendant with your credit card,
Automatic wirelessly signals the gate that you’re there using iBeacon, deducts the necessary funds from a credit
card linked to your Automatic account, and opens the gate."

Graceland
Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley, is allowing visitors to use an iPad that works with beacons placed around the mansion. Visitors are able to obtain additional info via videos, audio and the museum even offers trivia. It is one of the first museums to offer
these location based tours via bluetooth 4.0. According to Graceland, Elvis himself was an early adopter when it came to new
technology. He was one of the first with a VCR, a microwave in Tennessee and a briefcase phone (early mobile phone). We should
learn from the ¨King¨´s example and keep up with the growing opportunities iBeacon technology offers.
According to Graceland:
“The iPads employ state-of-the-art iBeacon technology to trigger location based content enabling guests to dive deeper
into the story of Elvis’ life through audio, video and photos from the Graceland Archives, much of which has rarely been
seen”

United Nation´s Virtual Minefield
Another museum to implement beacons creativity is the United Nations. Unlike Graceland, they do not have a
continual usage of beacons but were able to implement them to raise awareness about land-mines during an
event in April. The exhibit was timed to coincide with the United Nations' International Day for Mine Awareness and
Assistance in Mine Action. Museum-goers put the sweeper app headphones and tried to make their way through the exhibit without setting off the virtual mines,
represented by iBeacons. Those who set off a ¨land-mine¨ hear a "jarring, visceral explosion" and a short audio clip
from someone who has been affected by land-mines. This example shows that iBeacons do not need to used in a broad manner, but can be used innovatively to improve
the impact of events.

Melbourne Cricket Vendors
In 2014 many sports vendors started using beacons to send messages to their fans. From the tennis matches, to American
Football games, many fans were sent messages. These ranged updates on the weather to opportunities to upgrade their seats. A very creative group at the Melbourne Cricket Ground attached beacons to the trays of roving vendors for football matches. They then show where the vendors are
located, inviting fans to show the message to the vendor to be entered into a raffle to receive a number of free pies. This is a
very creative way to incentivize fans to make use of their application and the beacon technology.
According to MCG: “We understand that the fans have expectations when it comes to connectivity and engagement at the MCG and
we’re keen to test how beacons can contribute to making the MCG experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.”

Last but certainly not least on our list, GranataPet has developed the SnackBall pet snack machine. It endeavors to keep dogs happy and healthy. The machine was placed in different parks around Germany
for dogs and their owners to use during walks. They must be activated with the #snackball hashtag and then a tennis ball will
shoot out from the machine to start a game of fetch. Beacons are used to track how long it takes the dog to return the ball. If it is fast enough, it receives a treat. Beacons don´t get much more fun than
this!
This concludes our list. From museums to sports to even pet health, the opportunities with beacons are
endless. If you would like to learn more about iBeacon news and be inspired by more case studies, please
