A Warm Welcome to our new

Youth Director! This fall is sure to be a busy and exciting

time here at MUMC, and it’s a great time to

welcome Kayla Nagy and say thank you for

becoming our new Youth Director… ************************************************

My name is Kayla Nagy and I will be

the new Youth Director. I'll start with a little

bit about myself: I am an Alumni of

Marywood University. I graduated in 2013

with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal

Justice. Following graduation, I started

working at Friendship House in Scranton

providing TSS services to children with

special needs. In September of 2014 I left

Friendship House to work in my field of

study. I am currently a Paralegal for The

O'Brien Law Group in Moosic.

Our first meeting will be held on

September 13 following service. If you

cannot join us for our first meeting, our

second meeting will be September 27

following service! There will be more info to

follow after our first planning meeting so

stay tuned it's sure to be a great year!

If you are in grades 6th through 12th and are

interested in joining the MUMC Youth

Group, please come to the first meeting on

September 13th and/or contact me at

“Grace Notes”

Looking back over the last couple of months, I can

praise God for so many things such as time spent with my

granddaughter and daughter, a long string of days filled

with blue skies and sunshine, and being able to watch my

beloved Pittsburgh Pirates heading toward an exciting

pennant race. But of all these summer blessings, the

greatest was seeing our youth “become the message” of

God’s love through our serving the people of Eastern

Shore, Virginia!

Seeing our youth hugging needy kids, hearing the

stories of those who helped repair and paint homes, and

being part of a larger group of volunteers who never once

said, “What denomination are you from?” reminded me

once again of why we’re here…to become the message of

Christ’s love within our community and the surrounding

culture.

So as we head into the fall season and begin to

think of new and creative ways of doing ministry, let us

heed and put into practice the words of our Lord and

Savior Jesus Christ who said, “I tell you the truth,

whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers

and sisters, you did for me.”

Blessings to you in the name of our loving Savior,

Exciting Fall Bible Study Coming!

What would lead a first-centiury rabbi to travel for thousands of miles by sea and by land, to be beaten, imprisoned, and

ultimately beheaded for his faith? Come find out by joining us for this DVD bible study on the life of the Apostle Paul led by Rev. Adam Hamilton. This class will

begin Sunday, September 13th, in the Adult Sunday School room. (Next to the

kitchen in the fellowship hall). Important! You are highly encouraged to

purchase Adam Hamilton’s book entitled “The Call: The life and Message of the Apostle Paul” as an enrichment

resource for this study.

From the Lay Leader

We're back! Hasn't this been one of the best

summers (weather-wise) ever? So many sunny days, and

rain when we needed it. Hope you all were able to take

some vacation time.

Now we head into our 'busy time' at MUMC. Over

the next few months we will be choosing new committee

members, choirs will be practicing, Sunday School and

Bible Studies begin, Charge Conference, Laity Sunday,

Fund Raisers, take place. None of it could happen

without you investing your time in the church, for which

I am grateful, as is Pastor Jeff. Those who do give of

their time and talents experience a feeling of belonging

which doesn't come if you just visit the church for an

hour each week. Shared experiences are what builds

relationships, and, builds strong churches. Let's continue

to invest a little of our time and talents in these activities.

I'm still in a summer mindset, so I won't mention

that next season yet--there's still time to hit the beach!

our Sunday School program at 9:30 am beginning

September 13th! Each Sunday, our Sunday School

classes all meet in the Sanctuary for a brief time of

song and fellowship prior to going off to their

International Mission Pillow Case Dresses for Haiti

A huge thank you to everyone who donated

materials, money, and the thread to assemble

the pillow case dresses for little girls in

Haiti. You will be excited to see the finished

product when we unveil them during

worship in September. Thank you to those

who helped assemble the dresses, and a very

special thank you to Jean Chapman for all

her hard work and dedication to this

amazing mission opportunity!

The Moscow United Methodist Church Preschool recently held their annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 24, 2015. There were nearly 90 people in attendance and we had a wonderful, picture-perfect day for

our fun event. Most of our returning and new incoming students were able to come to the Social! It was such a great day!
