Mosaic Los Angeles proudly presents our 3rd Film Festival

Welcome to a Film Festival Experience that is both unique and interactive. Journeys by Land and by Scene is not only about the narratives you will watch unfold, but about the journey of a cinematic story itself. Feel the music, watch the fashion, lift the sand bags, and hear the script read. We want you to live for a moment behind the scenes and perhaps be inspired to tell your own story. Enjoy the ride!David ArcosMosaic Films Creative Producer

Mosaic is a community of followers of Jesus Christ, committed to live by faith, to be known by love, and to be a voice of hope. The name of our community comes from the diversity of our members and from the symbolism of a broken and fragmented humanity which can become a work of beauty under the artful hands of God. We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. Come to Mosaic, and discover how all the pieces can fit together!

about molaffWe want to spot the storied potential of humanity. We believe that everyone has the potential to lead a high-concept life. In our 3rd year, we bring you Journeys by Land and by Scene. This event is not only a place to showcase provoking art, but a public discussion; a catalyst for change where all participants will walk away with their passion for life re-ignited.We wanted to give filmmakers the opportunity to engage their art, beliefs, and purpose to create inspired, meaningful films. The Mosaic LA Film Festival is a forum to unleash the potential of their creative genius inside.Journeys by Land and by Scene encouraged filmmakers and writers to look beyond the destination and highlight the experiences and choices that brought them here. What you will discover tonight is not only a journey through the filmmaking process, but also into our deepest longings, our desires, our needs, our cravings, our souls. We know that there are countless people who contribute to the creation of a film and we want to honor each person who is a part of that process. Sometimes they are in the limelight, but oftentimes they are behind the scenes or even a chance encounter that serves as an unnamed muse. Each is vital in creating what you see on the screen.

The Mosaic LA Film Festival is comprised of passionate, creative minds who want to use their love of film to create something beautiful and meaningful. We want to tell a story of hope that inspires others and challenges them to forge their own paths toward change. We are a part of a community called Mosaic. You are always welcome to join us, share your life with us, and journey with us.

zumeZume is a 5k race where orphans from Zambia have decided to challenge others to run. Through pledges and sponsors they intend to build their own children’s village. This race is driven by Orphans. They are the Heroes not the victims. They don’t want our money they want our courage to change the future. We do not run FOR them we run WITH them. Currently, we are building our Zume coaches team. If you have race organizing skills and experience contact [email protected]. Zume is a ministry of Mosaic/Beyond US partnering with Breath of Heaven (breathofheaven.org). “We will Zume until we have our desire”Monica Lungu, Orphan

short films

A story about a young Hungarian boy and his fatal acquaintance with a Russian soldier during the 1956 Revolution in Budapest, which leads to an unusual trip down memory lane.

Miscellaneous Theories on TimeUnable to cope with the death of her husband and small child, a woman isolates herself from the outside world and boxes up her belongings. She wallows within the confines of an empty house as she plummets into a series of daydreams triggered by the fantasy of being able to travel back in time using the correlation of physical sense and memory. The daydreams are interrupted by the appearance of a stranger who is, in fact, a coping mechanism manifested by her subconscious in order to redirect the suppressive nature of her grief into a more understanding and healing state.

Patient ZeroMalice precedes caution in the race to cover up a fatal decision made by one doctor that could affect the fate of the world. On the hunt to figure out how to stop a peculiar disease from spreading, Dr. Sarah Lind and her attending physician, Dr. Lowenstein, face the ultimate decision of compromising themselves or the world. How far will these doctors go for the greater good?

You have the script, you have the actors, and you even have your crew. But this is not the end of the journey of the creation of a film. The way each character looks influ-ences the entire mood of the movie.

Inspired by the designs of Dual Society and Frocky Jack Morgan, the short film, Wearing Their Whites was written. As the garments were sewn and eventually placed onto hu-man form, the script transformed from the imagination and ink to existence. Bringing a character to life does not stop at the costume. Makeup artists and hairstylists play an integral role in the transformation of an actor to the character we see onscreen.

From script to production, costumes and makeup to the final character, and even the addition of a soundtrack, played live today by the Meg and Bryan Duo, you can see firsthand how each element is integral to the completion of a film. Enjoy your glimpse into the journey of a film.

Julia Barbee, Frocky Jack MorganI am examining the contrast between the visible, the ephemeral, the auditory—and the temporal marks of identity. Motivated by the duality of attraction/repulsion I use scent as the platform for performance, experimentation, quasi-anthropological study, and non-representational self-portraiture.
