In the Hospital was drawn by a teenager with a long history of seizure disorder, which has resulted in cognitive delays and emotional immaturity. He is predominantly non-verbal, which limits his ability to articulate his feelings and concerns. Art therapy helps him cope with his illness and the procedures he has experienced during multiple hospitalizations. A prolific artist, he initially drew super heroes, identifying with their super powers and omnipotence. Recently, he has begun to draw his caregivers, reflecting the support system he has built for himself during his long stays in the hospital.
