BANDON - The 73rd annual Bandon Cranberry Festival is just around the corner and promises a week-end full of activities, events and entertainment for the whole family Sept. 12, 13, 14 and 15.

This year's theme "Cranberry Carnival" invites a tent full of colorful and lively interpretations. No carni-val is complete without rides and a midway, which will be a new feature this year in the lot at the west end of Old Town and is suitable for all ages. The carnival will be open all day Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15.

There will be festival parking at the Harbor Lights Middle School parking lot with the CCAT Cranberry Express bus shuttle to Old Town. It will run from noon-5 p.m. Saturday.

The annual parade, with ribbons for the winning entries, starts at 10 a.m. on Ninth Street SW. Entry forms can be found online at https://bandon.com/online-parade-registration/.

This year, the coronation will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept 12, at the Sprague Community Theater, 1202 11th St. SW. Tickets for the coronation are $15 each and available at Freedom Graphics, from princesses and at the door.

Other weekend activities include the Blessing of the Harvest, Cranberry Kitchen Food Fair, Cranberry Eating Contests, Quilters Guild Show, vendor market-place, live music on the main stage and Old Town Marketplace, Boardwalk Art Show awards, Crab Derby drawings, Cranberry Street Dance featuring Aurora, the Albanie Falletta Band at the Sprague Theater, VFW Auxiliary Craft Bazaar, Bake Sale and breakfast, Cranberry Equipment Expo, "Show Your Car" no-host event, Treasure Chest raffle, Mystery Person reveal, corn hole tournament, bike ride, Lions Cranberry Run, softball tournament, disc golf tournament and more.

BANDON - Pat Snyder will be the featured artist from 12-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Second Street Gallery, 230 Second St. SE. in Old Town.

As he is active with painting, collage and printmak-ing, Snyder has selected to be demonstrating printmaking with linoleum (linocut) and copper engraving during the gallery's Meet and Greet the Artist event.

Snyder has a lifelong involvement with art. As a child he recalls his sign painting father would gather at the kitchen table and show how to draw and what to look for. After high school and military service he attended

Ringling School of Art. Afterwards he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and a Master’s Degree with a printmaking emphasis from Northern Illinois University.

He started his teaching career in 1967 at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay where he had fond memories of the Pacific Northwest when he was a preteen. In 1998 after 30 years of teaching, he continued with making art and volunteering his time with art education classes and workshops at the Coos Art Museum.
