Joseph Smith born in 1805 in Vermont
1820 had his first vision
1823 the angel Moroni visited him-told him about the existence of the book of Mormon.
Joseph found it in a box buried on Hill Cumorah-thin gold plates.

After four years of spiritual preparation from Moroni, Joseph was able to take the book out of the box.
Written in Reformed Egyptian (no such language exists)
Translated it using seer stones and Urim and Thummim.

1829 finished translating it and in August printed 5000 copies which were sold on April 6th 1830.

1830-1844 Smith led the Mormons by divine revelation(New York, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois)

1844 Smith decided to run for presidency, was arrested for treason and jailed in Carthage, Missouri.
June 27th was shot and killed while in prison.

John Taylor became the third President and Prophet.
1887 Taylor died while on the run.

1890 decided Mormons could not vote.
April 1889 Wilford Woodruff became the fourth President and Prophet. Had a revelation which put an end to polygamy.

1896 Utah became an official state. Mormons began to assimilate back into mainstream life.
1978 Spencer Kimball received a revelation that black people would no longer be excluded from the priesthood.

The highest celestial heaven is exalted salvation and eternal life. Here you can become gods and enjoy the full presence of God and Jesus. The true Mormon heaven.

Lower Celestial heaven: Singles who lived a worthy life, those who were good but did not have an opportunity to become a Mormon-do so in spirit-prison.
The Terrestrial heaven-unworthy/unfaithful Mormons, good people who rejected Mormonism while alive, but accepted it in spirit-prison. Jesus will visit sometimes.
