There are moments in every adult’s life when they wish that they could go back and revisit their childhood.

To experience the simplicity

and creativity of the way-back-when.

When being active was also about discovering new and wonderful experiences.

It’s these feelings we want to help elicit in the busy people of New York City with our Monument to Childhood.

To help transport them from the world of dollar signs and decimal points to a lush little patch of grass where they can eat lunch and play around a bit.

The park can be approached from multiple directions.

The structure of the monument and placement on the hilly green is meant to draw people’s attention and entice them to interact with it.

The monument is constructed with simple arches that increase in size.

The increased width allows for more people to step on the bases of the arches at the same time, making this a group activity.

When someone steps on the colored base of the arch they discover that the interaction with the base plays a xylophone sound, much like this one: [CLICK to play audio]

And in the dark, the bases even light up to allow the arch and the person interacting with it to be presented in a colorful glow.
