My name is Mr. Buckholdt.” Mike F: “And my name is Mr. Francis.” David M: “And my name is Mr. Middleton. DM: “Now, can we all stand up! We’re going to reach all the way up to the bright blue sky! And bring it down to the toes! Let your arms hang, and bring it back up to the sky! Now put your left foot in, and take it, put it back in and shake it all about Etc” MF: “Raise your hand if you’ve heard of the song, “The More We Get Together.” Well, we’re going to teach it to you today!”

Objectives: SWBAT

Sing “The More We Get Together” Stomp and clap to the beats of “The More We Get Together” Keep a steady beat to “Chip Chop, Chippity Chop”

Materials Needed:

Piano/ Keyboard Candy (surprise) Pot Spoons (3)

Procedure:David B: “Good Morning class! My name is Mr. Buckholdt.”Mike F: “And my name is Mr. Francis.”David M: “And my name is Mr. Middleton.DM: “Now, can we all stand up! We’re going to reach all the way up to the bright blue

sky! And bring it down to the toes! Let your arms hang, and bring it back up to the sky! Now put your left foot in, and take it, put it back in and shake it all about Etc”

MF: “Raise your hand if you’ve heard of the song, “The More We Get Together.” Well, we’re going to teach it to you today!”

MF: (If no one raises hand): “The more we get together, together, together, do you know this song?” If no one recognizes it from here, begin teaching it.(If they do raise their hand, go to teach clapping and stomping.)

MF: “We’ll sing the first verse first, and repeat what I sing when I point to you: The more we get together, together, together, the more we get together the happier we’ll be. (Point and repeat with students.) Now let’s do the same with the second verse: Cause your friends are my friends and my friends are your friends, the more we get together the happier we’ll be. (Point and repeat with students).”“Now we will sing both verses without stopping as a whole class. Begin with us. The more we get together, together, together, the more we get together the happier

DM: “Now we’re going to clap to the song. Listen to us first.”(Sing and clap the first verse.)“Ok, now it’s your turn! Follow along as we sing and clap as a class.”(Sing and clap the first verse together.)

DM: “Remember the second verse? We’re going to stomp to it! Watch and listen to us first, and we’ll do it again as a class.(Sing and stomp second verse.)“It’s your turn again! Follow along with us! (Sing and stomp second verse as a class.)

DM: “We’re going to combine what we just learned and clap to the first verse and stomp to the second verse without stopping in between. Follow along!”(Sing and clap first verse, sing and stomp second verse, no break.)

MF: “Raise your hand if you like soup?! (ask random student what their favorite is)” (pause) I like that too, but you know what my favorite is?... CANDY SOUP!!!! How about you Mr. B

DB: “Oh I love candy soup!!! What about you Mr. M?DM: What a coincidence that is my favorite soup!!!MF: Wait, you mean to tell me that we all love candy soup??!!DM/DB: YEP!!!MF: You’re not going to believe this, I have all the ingredients for candy soup!!!DM/DB: NO way!!!!MF but I have a problem…DM: what’s that?MF: I need help making it!!! Now if there were only a class of kindergarteners here to

help us out…DM: Oh wait there is!! Raise your hand if you want to help.DB: Ok, first we need to divide into groups of three (MF and DM begin to pass out

candy)DM: Now don’t eat the candy yet! We’ll be using it for our song! But don’t worry; you’ll

get it at the end of class today.DB: Now were going to learn the soup song, listen closely and try and follow along.DB: “chop chop Chippity chop….” MF: Now you try it with us, with the hand motions… “Chop Chop Chippity Chop…”DM: very good, now were going to add the candy to the pot!!!!! While we’re all singing,

one group at a time will come up and put their candy in the pot and stir. Don’t worry everyone will get a turn. Each group will have a number and when it’s your turn you may go. Keep stirring until we finish singing and then go back to your seat. We will do this until everyone has added there candy to the pot and stirred.

MF: “Great job class! Give yourself a round of applause!!!! Raise your hand if you can tell me what we did today!!

Evaluation: Are the majority of the students able to sing the song? Stomp and clap and chop at the appropriate time? Make different rhythms during improv?
