The Benefis REACH Telehealth Network has been busy responding to the need. Two weeks ago, the REACH Network had 10 licenses for Zoom. We now have 120 licenses and have set up 29 Benefis Medical Group (BMG) providers to use telemedicine in the first week alone. Working in step with BMG leadership, the telemedicine network developed a decentralized scheduling protocol, Zoom 101-How To for both providers and patients, and two other documents to help everyone navigate connecting with the Zoom platform. BMG directors and managers are rounding every day to make sure they are communicating the provider needs to the telemedicine staff so the needs of both providers and patients are met. In this fast-changing environment, we continue to work in a coordinated effort with BMG and other Benefis departments to assign priority and roll out telemedicine accordingly as designated. Spectrum Limiting Walk-in Traffic to Store Beginning April 1, Spectrum’s home medical equipment store will limit traffic to the store through the following steps: Dropshipping supplies directly to customers. Offering curbside delivery where patients do not need to come into the store but can pick up supplies curbside. Delivering to customers’ doors if the customer is in town. Customers may call (406) 771-6400 to arrange for one of these options. When to Use and When to Skip Gloves We must be good stewards of our short supply of personal protective equipment. Click here for details about when to use gloves and when to go without. Sterile gloves are worn during sterile procedures. Examination gloves are worn during any direct contact with bodily fluid and when there is a high risk for contact with bodily fluids, such as IV starts or emptying an emesis basin or bedside commode. Also, in all contact or enteric precaution rooms or handling garbage or linen. Gloves are not necessary when there is a low risk of exposure to bodily fluids, such as injections, obtaining vital signs, or ambulating with a standard precaution patient.
