This is one of my favorite ways
of getting to know everyone
here. I think you’ll find it both
entertaining and invigorating.
First, you’re going to break into
groups of two. It’s better if you
find someone you don’t already
know much about, but it’s OK if
you feel more comfortable with
someone you know.
Your job is to find out a few
things about each other. You
might want to take notes, and
be sure to keep it brief and
interesting.

Your next task will be to
introduce each other to all
of us.
Now you know why I told
you to keep it brief and
interesting when I asked
you to find out about each
other.
You only have a few
moments, so get started
right away.

4. Leaders understand “When” as well
as “What”.
They know it’s sometimes more
important to know “when” to do
something than “what” to do.

The stories are from my latest
book, available on amazon.com in
both print and electronic (Kindle)

Leadership.”
If you are a US Amazon Prime

“And Then There Were Stories …”
The stories are all true, and in
most instances I’ve even used the
real first names of the people
involved.
After all, if it weren’t for these
extraordinary people I never could
have written the book.

“If you’re trying to achieve there will be
roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody
has had them. But obstacles don’t
have to stop you. If you run into a
wall, don’t turn around and give up.
Figure out how to climb it, go through
it, or work around it."

Break up into groups of
four or five.

managers of a multi-
national corporation that
has been told by
headquarters that you
have to reorganize.
Decide who among you
will be the CEO (Chief
Executive Officer).

Break up into groups of

first one of you will be a
Manager and the other an
Employee who works for
the Manager.
Then you will reverse
roles, with the Employee
now being the Manager.

As the Manager, you are
giving an Exit Interview to
an Employee who has
taken another job.
You can decide if you are
glad or sorry that the
Employee is leaving.
After this, when you
reverse roles, you can
decide if you are glad or
sorry that the Employee
is leaving.

It will be easier if you make
notes about what you want to
say to the Employee.
Once you’ve practiced with
each other, you’ll share your
discussion with everyone.
I’ll write everything down up
here, and we’ll see what we
can learn from each other.
