• Pick a topic in the field of Behavioural Endocrinology that is of interest to you

• Example: testosterone and sexual behavior, stress and glucocorticoids, the role of glucocorticoids in depression, the role of estrogen and progesterone in PMS etc.

• Go to PubMed and look for journal articles using specific key words

• Select an experiment that you find interesting• You are likely to find these articles in journals like:

Hormones and Behavior, Journal of Neuroscience, Journal of Endocrinology, Endocrinology etc.

Poster Presentation – When and Where?

• November 22• 2-5 pm • Room: TBA• Your poster will be on display from You’ll be by

your poster for a period of 40 min presenting your poster

• When you are not presenting you will go around and listen to other people present

• You have to judge 3 posters • Criteria TBA

Poster Presentation

• Do not change the title of your paper

• Do not change the authors’ names

• On the day of the presentations bring a copy of the journal article that you based your poster on, write your name and e-mail address on the front of the journal article

• Do not exceed the dimensions assigned

• For the title use 80 pt font

• For the text use 16 pt font (or larger)

• Make your figures large

• Make your main findings bold and large in point form

Poster Presentation - Intro

• You can have a mini abstract – but not necessary• Extract the most important things from your

journal article• Intro – put relevant information only• Make sure that the research question is captured in

your intro (your hypothesis)• You should be very familiar (without reading what

“you” wanted to find out by doing this study)

Poster Presentation - Results

• Large figures

• Large headings above figures capturing main findings

• No raw statistics

• Know the statistical tests done if somebody asks you about them

Poster Presentation - Conclusions

• Discuss how the results relate to your hypothesis in the introduction

• Discuss what the meaning of the results

• While presenting remind your audience what the purpose of the study was

• REFERENCES: include any references that you used in your poster.

• Your poster presentation should be 3-5 minutes long

• Speak loudly and clearly

• Refer to your figures
