Moodle was created on 20th November 2005.

What Does It Do ?Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, Open Source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities. You can download and use it on any computer you have handy (including webhosts), yet it can scale from a single-teacher site to a University with 200,000 students. LicenseMoodle is a free software e-learning platform (also known as a Course Management System (CMS), or Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)). Here are a few interesting facts about the people behind Moodle that you possibly did not know. There are 75 people in the main Moodle development all originating from different countries. For these 75 people, this is their permanent job. Moodle can actually be translated into 32 different languages world wide.

WebCTWebCT is Moodels’ main competitor. WebCT, now owned by “Blackboard”, founded in 1995, is Moodles’ only main competitor. Moodle has no advantages nor disadvantages over its competitor WebCT however many people choose to choose Moodle because of its reliability and because of it's recommendation by Moodle customers.

MY OPINIONIn my opinion, Moodle is a very good resource to have on your computer if you use it every day. However, I think it could be improved by making more hyperlinks on its homepage to more useful information because for most of this project I had to search the information in the search engine. I think that Moodle will also have many more members if it advertised more e.g. Designing pop-ups or T.V adverts.
