Transcript of Moodle numerical quiz question
To a student, the numerical question looks like a short answer. The difference is that numerical answers are allowed to have an accepted error; they allow a fixed range for answers that can be evaluated as one answer. Moodle also allows you
to give students options with units, and grade the numerical and unit response separately.

Step 3: Grade / Penalty Factor
Enter a default question grade. This assigns a point value to this question. Also enter a penalty factor. If you have enabled adaptive mode in the quiz settings, the penalty factor shows how much will be subtracted from the question total for each incorrect answer. Step 4: General feedback
Enter general feedback. This is feedback that will be shown to the student after the question has been attempted, no matter what answer was given.
Step 5: Answer choices
Enter answer choices. These should be numerical values. You can assign a grade value for each answer choice to give full or partial credit; you must set one answer choice to a grade of 100% to select it as the best possible choice. You also can enter an accepted error. You can give feedback for each specific response. If you want more answer choices, click on Blanks for 3 more choices. Any choice answer box that you leave empty should not be included in the question.
Step 6: Units
If you want students to have to enter a unit label with their numerical response, you will want to edit this section. You can decide if the unit selection will be graded and enter acceptable unit responses. You can also enter additional instructions for your question.
Step 7: Fill in tags
You may fill in tags to help keep your question bank organized. Once completed, click on Next Page.
