1.Depression is a very real and serious mood disorder.2.It is a serious mental condition that has impact and makes it difficult
to maintain concentration or interest in life.
What is depression disorder?
Depression vs. sadness• Sadness- it is a normal human emotion. We feel it when something
happened unpleasant.• Sadness and depression have similar reactions except for the fact
that the depression persists for longer duration than sadness.• Depression is an abnormal emotional state, a mental illness that
affects our thinking, decision making, emotions and might even cause someone to feel down for weeks/ months.
Who is affected by depression?According to the stats conducted by research worldwide, including in India - at least one in five women and one in ten men suffer from depression disorder at some time or the other in their lifetime. Depression can have several symptoms. People who snap easily, have difficulty in concentrating, obsessively need to rush home after work or are continuously putting down colleagues on mails and social media could be depressed to some extent in their life.
Depression treatment becomes quite necessary or else it might worsen a person’s mental and physical health in a very dangerous way.

One of the most common illnesses found in human beings• Serious and sometimes can be chronic • Afflicts 10 percent of the population in India• One in five women and one in 10 men suffer from major depression
disorder• Through studies have shown that depression can be passed down
through families• Major depression is most likely to affect people between the ages of
45 and 65.• Hundreds of thousands of medications are given out each year to
treat depression

• Depression, like heart disease go through families to families. If one parent has suffered from depression there is a 25 percent chance that a child can develop the illness too; if both parents are depressed, the risk rises to 75 percent.
• These include imbalances in the brain’s neurotransmitters as well as hormonal imbalances.

What happens in the brain• Depression may be causea change in brain shape that appears to be
associated with severe mood disorders.• If mood symptoms are severe or go on very long, the hippocampus
shrinks. The process appears also to be occurring in frontal lobes in mind.

Ways To Treat Depression1. Change your focus by doing something that gives you
happiness.2. Follow a hobby / passion3. Start Reading books that interest you.4. Go out on a vacation for some time, give yourself a
break and start again.5. Let the things/ situations/ person move out of your life
who is not worth it.6. Plan a short outing with friends7. If nothing of such things help you out, visit a ayurvedic
doctor and try taking natural anti depressants, which might help you get rid of depression in a non harmful way.
