Background

• UMSC C.A.R.E Fund (Research Grant) aims to encourage clinical research and audits by faculty staff for the betterment of health and wellbeing.

Funding

• The maximum duration is one (1) year.

Eligibility

• An applicant is a permanent or contract staff of FOM. For contract staff who is a PI, he/she must not be the sole researcher of the project applied. Research project must include a permanent staff.

• The proposed budget must not exceed RM30,000.

• UMSC CA.R.E Fund (Page Charge) aims to encourage research publication by faculty staff for the betterment of health and wellbeing.

• An applicant must have been confirmed in service (for staff) or registered (for student).

• An applicant is eligible to apply for the following page charge reimbursement: (i) RM3,000 for tier 1

• If an applicant is receiving funding from other sources (e.g., IPPP), the reimbursement amount should not exceed the stipulated balance of the page charge.

• RBS RESEARCH GRANT Dr Ranjeet Bhagwan Singh (RBS) Research Grant is an annual programme under the RBS Medical Research Trust Fund to be awarded to one (1) young Malaysian scientist to undertake medical/biomedical research. Eligibility Criteria Research scientists/physicians with the following criteria: Malaysian citizen currently residing in Malaysia;

• The applicant must not exceed 40 years of age at the time of application.

• The applicant has to possess at least a basic University degree; and

• He or she must be working in a public or private Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs), or a Research Institute (RIs) in Malaysia.

The Grant

• Maximum amount is RM 30,000 per award.

• The project must be carried out in Malaysia and completed within 24 months.

• The grant will be disbursed through the candidate’s institution by MOSTI.

• RBS GRANT FOR RESEARCH WORKSHOP RBS Research Workshop Grant is a biennial programme under the RBS Medical Research Trust Fund to be awarded to one (1) Malaysian scientist/ institution to conduct a workshop to introduce new research techniques or enhance research technologies in the medical or biomedical fields.

• Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant will be referred to as Research Workshop Leader, representing him/her or the institution/organisation.

• The applicant must have at least a basic University degree.

• The applicant must be working in a Malaysian public or private IHL, or RI and currently residing in Malaysia.

The Grant

• Maximum amount is RM 50,000 per award.

Research Grant & Medical Research Workshop

MAKNA Cancer Research Award 2017 Objective

The aim of the MAKNA Cancer Research Award is to promote cancer research among young

scientists.

Eligibility

Application is open to all Malaysian citizens below 40 years of age who possess a basic degree,

residing in Malaysia and interested in cancer research. Students who are pursuing their postgraduate

degrees are encouraged to apply.

Research Award

MAKNA offers 3 research awards per year with the value of each award not exceeding RM30,000. The award cannot be used to purchase equipment, to employ salaried personnel or to attend

conference. The project must be carried out in Malaysia and completed within 2 years.

Application Procedure

All applications should be submitted online through the Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM)

database at www.mytopscientists.org before the closing date. Each application must be accompanied

by a recent institutional endorsement form signed by the Dean/Head of the unit in which the

candidate will realize the research work

(dated no later than six months form date of application).

Closing Date of Application

All application must be submitted by 31 August 2017 (Thursday 12:00 noon). Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline shall not be considered.

• Internal audit of FOM research laboratories

• Jawatankuasa Induk Audit Makmal Fakulti Perubatan –

chaired by Prof Datin Dr Hamimah, FOM Director for

Quality and Accreditation

• Carried out in March and April 2017

• First audit exercise started with FOM Research Units – CRL, AEU and

CENTUARI

• Each unit has submitted their corrective reports.

• Most issues are minor. Attention needs to be given to biosafety and competency

issues.

• The auditors will revisit CRL, AEU and CENTUARI to ensure the corrective

actions are in placed.

FOM Internal Lab Audit (Continued)

• Internal audit of FOM research laboratories

• This is an on-going exercise with 3 audit sessions per

year.

• Following this, 2 department research labs and 1

research centre will be audited in each session.

• The equipment inventory will be audited separately to

optimise the usage of equipment in the faculty.

and Use Committee)

• This exercise includes:
