Rio Nuevo will contribute $2.4 million to Gadsden Compa- ny’s $35 million project that will include 122 market-rate housing units, nearly 13,000 sq ft of retail space and 148 spaces of underground parking. A portion of the funding comes from HUD and the final steps in the approval process are nearing completion. The project is expected to begin in early October 2018 and take approximately 16 months. The project will improve the safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists through pavement painting, planters with native desert plants, traffic delinea- tor posts, and other installations like art and benches, which will all be temporary until Downtown Links begins.
