revenue from programs and 1% of 1% of the City’s

general fund which can only be used for capital

improvements, not operations. The parks operate

on less money than they did 30 years ago. There

are 740 acres on 26 parks in the Lancaster. This

Ballroom Dance ~ East Coast Swing

East Coast Swing is a form of social partner dance.

It belongs to the group of swing dances. It is

danced under fast swing music, including rock and

roll and boogie-woogie. As a marketing ploy,

during the 50s, Arthur Murray renamed the

dance Rock 'n' Roll, to capitalize on the popular

music of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry,

and Bill Haley, but the teenage public was not

fooled, so the re-naming attempt was abandoned.

Join our teacher Stan on Fridays at 1:00p, no

partner required and only $5 per lesson, payable

at the office before class. Stan will have you

triple, triple, rockin’ in no time!

The Right Way to Fall

Although generally associated

with older folks, falls can and

do occur at any age and are the

most common cause of trips to

the emergency room in the

U.S. Given the frequency of

falling, it is important that one

should know what to do in the

event of a fall. Priority #1 is to

protect your head: Pivot to the

side if you are able and tuck

you head downwards. Falling

on the face or back can result

in a concussion and/or

whiplash after impact. Avoid

“FOOSH” or falling onto out-

stretched hands. Falling onto

your hands may result in

breaking a wrist. Likewise,

crashing down onto a knee or

foot can result in a broken

kneecap, or broken bones in

your foot. If you are able, tuck

the elbows into the side and

aim for landing on a fleshy part

of the body, like the side of a

thigh, or buttocks. The key is

not to fight the fall but to roll

with it, shifting weight along

the way. Physical therapists

often assess weaknesses and

strengths, prescribing at home

exercises to improve both

strength and flexibility.

Regular attendance in strength

and flexibility classes also

reinforce individual ability to

stay on one’s feet.

Newspapers throughout the world write about

the Lorena and radio and TV coverage is

extensive. Worldwide coverage came when the

Lorena survived the “Blizzard of ’78.” The

riverboat was within a quarter-inch of capsizing.

Before our lunch cruise we will tour Conn’s

Potato Chip Factory in Zanesville. Learn the

secrets to making this tasty treat. You can’t eat

just one! After our ride on the sternwheeler we

will stop for a sweet treat. Tom’s Ice Cream

Bowl has been a proud Zanesville tradition for

more than 50 years. Their ice cream is

homemade, the nuts they serve are roasted

fresh daily, and their fine assortment of

handcrafted old fashioned chocolates and candy

will leave your mouth watering for more.

$31 includes: travel, cruise, lunch

and tour (ice cream stop cost is on

your own). Departing at 9:45a and

returning approximately 3:00p.
