PBIS Celebration

Students who showed respect to themselves, others and property during month of September celebrated these good choices by playing kickball. Eighty five percent of our students met this expectation. The “three respects” are an important part of Matheny-Withrow School. These three respects help to provide a positive and consistent learning environment for all students, thus promoting increased student achievement. Please discuss the importance of these three respects with your child. Help us by reinforcing them at home. Ask your child about the Mystery Motivators and earning Mustang money for making good choices. Students will build good character traits along with have fun if they follow these respect guidelines.

Answer the questions below and return this part of the newsletter to your child’s teacher. A special prize will be given to each student who returns this form with the correct answers. Student Name: ________________________

Report Card Update The District has made some changes to all elementary report cards that are important to parents. One change will be that report cards will come home three times this year instead of four times, as they have in the past. Report cards will be sent home with Matheny students on November 21, March 6, and the last day of school. Another change is that there will be only three grades on the report card. For instance, if a student is earning a “3” toward a particular standard in math, this means he has “mastered” that standard. The student may be earning a “2” toward another math standard. This means he is “progressing” toward mastery, while a “1” indicates he is in the “beginning” or “developmental” stages of mastery toward that standard.
