Monthly Event in Japan - NEBUTA MASTURI Nebuta is a type of Tanabata related summer festival held in towns around Aomori Prefecture. The largest of these festivals is the Nebuta Matsuri (ねぶた祭) of Aomori City, held every year from August 2 to 7.A parade of about sixty bamboo and paper lanterns in the shape of historical or legendary heroes is taken out. The floats are surrounded by costumed dancers who dance to the sound of flutes and drums. It is among one of the largest festivals in Kanto. It is said that the Aomori Nebuta festival dates back to the 9th century when a local feudal lord used lantern-lit floats to make his forces look bigger. Since then, it has come to be believed that the fearsome faces help to wake sleepy souls in the heat of summer. NEXT CULTURAL PROGRAM: ORIENTATION PROGRAM BY Mr. Noda KKG(Japan) Our next Cultural Program is going to be held on 19 th of Sept. 2015 (Sat.), timing will be 2pm to 4pm at Nihongo Center. The main attraction of this cultural program will be the Orientation given by Mr. Noda, Manager of the Overseas Affairs of Kokusai Kotoba Gakuin (KKG), Prominent Japanese Language School in Japan. Through this program, information will be given to the students about Study Program in Japan. Our special guest Mr. Noda will introduce the audience about the prospects & career after learning Japanese at KKG, Japan. Videos related to KKG study program will also be shown. JAPAN STUDY FAIR held at TAJ MAHAL HOTEL
A “Japan Study Fair” has been organized by Diagaku Shinbunsha, supported by the Embassy of Japan, Japan
Foundation. Coordination for this program was done by Nihongo Center on 5th
August, 2015 at the Taj Mahal Hotel,
New Delhi (Diwan-I-Am Hall). Japan Study fair was proved to be very beneficial for the students who have a desire to
go to Japan for further studies or for making career. This educational fair also provided an opportunity to the students
learning Japanese language, of having face-to-face consultation with the Japanese faculty members of different schools
& universities regarding admission procedure etc. The Embassy of Japan booth was also present in this fair for guiding
the students regarding the latest scholarships and different programs to Study in Japan. Through this fair students as
well as the visitors came to know about various schools & colleges existing in Japan & what kind of subject these
colleges are offering in their graduation program and also what are the prospects of career after learning Japanese
language in Japan. Nihongo Center participated very enthusiastically in the fair for giving information to the students
and visitors clearing their doubts as well as confusion. To introduce the culture of Japan, one of the participating
language schools from Japan demonstrated the art of ‘Kimono’ wearing at the venue. There was a long queue at this
booth to wear Kimono. Photos of these Kimono-wearers were presented free of cost to them. More than 1000 visitors
attended this fair & they told us that they were satisfied with the information given to them at this fair.
