P

Montgomery County has a goal to recycle 70 percent of all waste generated in the County by 2020. If you live in a single-family home, here’s what you can recycle:

In your wheeled recycling cart – mixed paper, shredded paper, and cardboard and paperboard boxes.

In your recycling bin – commingled materials such as aluminum cans and foil products, steel and tin cans, glass bottles and jars, #1 PET thermoform plastics, and plastic bottles, containers, jars, tubs, lids, pails, buckets, and flower pots.

Montgomery County • Recycling Guidelines

Place yard trim including leaves, grass clippings, brush and garden trimmings into paper lawn bags or in reusable containers marked with a yard trim recycling decal available from the Division of Solid Waste Services. Try composting and grasscycling instead.

To schedule scrap metal recycling collection of large metal items such as appliances, lawn mowers, and metal furniture, call 3-1-1 by 11am the business day prior to your regular recycling collection day, or visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov/311.

For more information about recycling in Montgomery County, call 3-1-1, 301-251-4850 (TTY), or visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov/recycling.
