We are helping teachers find effective ways to collect and USE data daily to guide their classroom instruction and improve student achievement.

Working to Improve Student
Achievement!
A strategy to promotehigher level thinking:
Turn & Talk
![Page 7: Montgomery County R-II Schools November 8, 2012 School Board Report Title I Instructional Coaches introducing Mrs. Jeania Burton, Literacy Coach Mrs. MaryAnn.](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022072014/56649ead5503460f94bb3fd0/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
• Changes we have noticed since the beginning of the year:
• More consistent implementation of guided reading among grade levels.
• Teachers demonstrating more confidence with formative assessment.
• Regularly scheduled writing conferences with individual students.
• Goal setting and student self assessment.
• Teachers are beginning to understand our role in the buildings and requesting our assistance.
Students taking responsibility for
their own learning!

What the research says: This isn’t a new idea. Many
districts are using coaches in classrooms to promote ongoing professional development and
teaching consistently with fidelity.
*Our PLC coach, Vicky Robb, shared that districts who want to effectively implement a balanced literacy program, need to have instructional coaches to guide classroom teachers and
ensure it is being taught with fidelity.
