Staircase Mural Proposal

Line the inside and outside of the existing railing with 5.5” wooden fence pickets. A color stain will be applied to each picket. Unlike a coat of paint that will cover up the wood, the stains will add color while accenting the natural wood – creating earth tones of the colors. Following the Color Wheel both sides of the staircase start with a yellow tone. The outside of the staircase transitions gradually through green, blue, and eventually purple. The inside of the staircase goes the opposite direction, through orange and red, but also ends with purple.

Logistics: Two 4” wide strips of 3/16” backer-board screwed into existing railings with sheet metal screws. Pickets can then be screwed to these backer-boards with wood screws. Standard fence picket comes 72” - cut in half and “dog-ear” cut the bottom to create 2nd picket. Leave 1/2” gap between pickets to allow for some transparency. All wood and screws estimated cost ~$500

Painting party. - 1: Provide volunteers with watered down standard colors. Yellow, Orange, Red, Blue, Green, Purple.2. Two stations of each of the main colors. With an adjacent color provided to be slowly introduced to the main color.

Example: There will be two Yellow Stations. Yellow + Orange and Yellow + Green.The Yellow + Orange station will paint 4 pickets Yellow, then add an eydropper of Orange, Paint 4 more, and add another eyedropper of Orange, and so on.
