Obtain an MTC Application Packet from your high school counseling office or download a hard copy from our

website, www.lcps.org/mtc . Select “Application” under the “School Counseling” tab at the top. This page will list all the necessary admission forms to be printed.

o Application Form (2 pages) – complete, obtain parent signature, return to school counselor. o * Teacher Recommendation Form – give to teacher, they will return it to the school counselor. o * Counselor Recommendation Form – give to school counselor to complete.

Obtain a copy of your VPT –English (Virginia Placement Test) scores if applying to a Dual Enrolled Course. Present completed application and VPT English scores to school counselor where applicable.

Student Responsibilities

Obtain completed 2-page MTC application from student. Receive the teacher recommendation form from student’s selected teacher. Attach a copy of student’s transcript. Attach the counselor recommendation form that you have completed.

Bundle all information and send to arrive to Stacie Ahrens-Mininberg at MTC NO LATER THAN March 15, 2013. Missing this deadline may result in the student not being accepted into the program.

Counselor Responsibilities

_____ Apply online to Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) www.nvcc.edu

_____ Write down the NVCC SIS 7-digit number as you will need to include this ID number on your MTC Application Packet.

_____ Take the NVCC Placement Test (VPT) – English, at one of these two locations.

A. Schedule to test at the NVCC Loudoun Campus Testing Center, call 703-450-2508 Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

Friday: 8:00 am - 2:00 pm Saturday: 9:00 am - 11:00 am

B. Schedule to test at several schools in Loudoun County, call Michelle Trudel at 571-252-2086. These sessions are scheduled on the following dates. Must provide your own transportation and arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. Limited seating available.January 31, 2013 – Heritage High School February 7, 2013 – Briar Woods High School February 14, 2013 – Loudoun Valley High School February 21, 2013 – Freedom High School February 28, 2013 – Park View High School March 7, 2013 – Monroe Technology Center

For Dual Enrollment

If taking the VPT – English Test, please bring with you the following items.

o Photo ID o Your NOVA SIS Number _________________ o Please notify the staff that you are a CONTRACT DUAL ENROLLMENT student and you need to take

the VPT English Test only. Attach a copy of your score report with your Monroe application.
