KONE MonoSpace® is a machine-room-less elevator concept

inspired by the invention of the EcoDisc® hoisting machine

technology. Slim and disc-shaped, the machine fits inside

a standard elevator well fixed to the guide rail, with the

controller built into the door frame at the top landing. The

result is an elevator that needs no separate machine room.

KONE MonoSpace® is a unique combination of the best

features of all conventional traction and hydraulic elevators.

Easier building designNo machine room and no loads on the well structure mean

easy integration into building designs. In most buildings

the MonoSpace® replaces all other types of elevator.

Construction cost savingsThe MonoSpace® elevator saves construction time, materials

and cost. The installation requires no craneage or scaffolding.

Streamlined delivery process, pre-assembly and efficient

installation methods ensure fast site times, taking the elevator

off the project’s critical path.

Future-proof investmentKONE MonoSpace® elevators are designed and equipped

to fully comply with all relevant EU directives and are built

and installed in accordance with ISO 9001 quality

assurance requirements.

Space efficiencyElimination of the traditional machine room maximises the

rentable, productive space in buildings.

The energy miracle The heart of green buildings

Every MonoSpace® elevator is powered by EcoDisc®, the

remarkable KONE hoisting machine introduced in 1996.

This innovative technology offers a unique set of benefits

for all building types - efficient use of space; lower

construction costs and long term operating economy.

The energy efficiency of EcoDisc® powered elevators makes

them an ideal choice for modern buildings, planned and

built for the increasingly environmentally conscious market.

EcoDisc® machines are based on a permanent magnet

synchronous motor in combination with frequency control

and low friction gearless construction, and represent a

quantum leap in elevator technology. The technology itself

is well proven, universally accepted and has the potential to

replace all types of traditional motors used in elevators.

Energy-efficiencyThe EcoDisc® uses only half of the power needed by

comparable conventional systems. In practical terms this

means a saving of thousands of kilowatt hours per annum.

The peak starting current is just 30 to 40% of equivalent

hydraulic and traction units.

Environmentally soundBesides its meagre power consumption, the EcoDisc®

uses no oil. This removes the risk of soil contamination

and fire that can accompany hydraulic installations, and

also eliminates the problem of oil disposal.

CompactThe disc-shaped EcoDisc® is only half the weight of

conventional power units. This compact size minimises

space requirements and enables buildings to be designed

without a machine room.

Strong and reliableBecause EcoDisc® machines have only one moving part, a

very low-revving motor and gearless construction, reliable

operation is guaranteed for decades to come. Less stress

and friction, coupled with greater inherent strength means

reliability is easily achieved.

Smooth and safe Lifts powered by EcoDisc® offer an exceptionally quiet and

smooth ride to passengers. The excellent floor alignment

accuracy means safety and ease of use - features that are

extremely important to all passengers, but particularly for

the elderly and disabled.

AmbassadorElegance and flexibility

The Ambassador design presents attractive, neutral styling.

Flexibility is offered through a comprehensive selection of

finishing alternatives and optional features. The walls can

be finished in skinplate, stainless steel or specified with high

pressure laminate. There are eight floor material alternatives,

consisting of rubber, linoleum or composite stone. The

ceiling is available in three different styles, either with

partial or full ceiling lighting. The size of the mirror can

be extended from one panel up to the full wall width.

The car front return entrance is made from the same

skinplate as the car walls or finished in brushed stainless

steel. The car design and construction complies with all

applicable rules and regulations, including the requirements

of Directive 95/16/EC. The positioning of call buttons and

information displays meet the standards required for use

by disabled persons under the guidelines of building

regulations part M2.

Three ceiling styles are each available as partial or full ceiling

lighting. As an option, the ceiling elements can be supplied

in brushed stainless steel. As an alternative design feature,

the rear corners of the car can be specified with 45˚ profiles.

Optional skirting is of brushed stainless steel.

Tinted mirror panels can be located on the back or side

walls; the panel width matches the wall panels. One-piece

mirrors are optional and a handrail will help to protect

the mirror.

Handrails are finished in dark grey or brushed aluminium

and match the width of the mirror.

PresidentExclusive & elegant design

The smooth lines of the President design combine a unique

style that is supported by a comprehensive selection of

alternative finishes and optional features.

The walls can be finished in skinplate, stainless steel or

specified with high pressure laminate. There are eight floor

material alternatives consisting of rubber, linoleum or

composite stone. The reflective dome ceiling material creates

a soft, indirect illumination effect. The height of the mirror

can be partial or full. The car front return entrance is finished

in brushed stainless steel.

The car design and construction complies with all applicable

rules and regulations, including the requirements of Directive

95/16/EC. The positioning of call buttons and information

displays meet the standards required for use by disabled

persons under the guidelines of building regulations part M2.

The President design is based on soft, rounded shapes,

including an elegant ceiling. The light is indirectly reflected

by the dome creating a pleasant ambience in the car.

The handrail is provided as standard and finished in brushed

aluminium. It matches the width of the mirror, but can also

be supplied the full width of the lift.

In keeping with the design

theme, the rear corners of

the car are rounded. The

corner profiles, as well as

the skirting are of brushed

stainless steel. The width of the tinted mirror panels located

on the back or the side wall matches the panels.

A one-piece mirror is optional. The handrail helps to

protect the mirror. 9

as a standard. Side wall mirrors are also available.

36mm brushed aluminium handrail.

The ventilation arrangement ensures adequate flow of

fresh air in and out of the car.

ImperialRobust structural integrity

The Imperial has been designed to cope with tough

operating environments. The walls, front returns, ceiling

and car operating panels are all made of durable stainless

steel. The aluminium handrail and the metal faced push

buttons are resistant to wear. A two-panel mirror is located

on the rear wall with the handrail underneath.

The car design and construction complies with all

applicable rules and regulations, including the requirements

of Directive 95/16/EC. The positioning of call buttons and

information displays meet the standards required for use

by disabled persons under the guidelines of building

regulations part M2.
